Mesh bumpers
My sons transitioned (if you want to call it that some nights! ) to their crib. My one son falls asleep with the pacifier and then if he gets up will look for it in the crib and pop it back in. Some how, I stick 3 in the crib st night they are all on the floor within an hour. My question is can I use mesh bumpers? My thought is if the bumpers block the pacifiers flying out of the crib we won't have to go running in there when he becomes hysterical that it's on the floor

Re: Mesh bumpers
Yes, mesh bumpers are safe. We used them the whole time she was in the crib. They really were just that - pacifer keepers. Kept the pacifers from flying out of the crib.
But they are breathable so they are way safer than traditional bumpers

Mesh bumpers are good. But my advice to you would be to try to get rid of the pacifier. It will be a tough few nights but in the end it will save you from running in there a million times. I did this with my son when he was 5 months old.

Re: Mesh bumpers
Have you tried the wubbanub pacifiers? DD started using them around that age. They don't get lost as easily since they are a bit heavier and don't travel as far and she can find the stuffy attached to it literally in her sleep. Otherwise, the mesh bumpers are good plan! I've been thinking of getting them, too. DD is 15 months but she falls asleep at weird angles with limbs sticking through the crib bars and I'm afraid she's going to hurt herself!

I have the wubbanub pacifiers but didn't know they could sleep with them since they are soft. Also this twin would probably spend the night chewing on the soft end to try and eat t. Is that safe? I'm nervous he will chew it apart? I agree with the limbs. His foot went out the wide one evening

At that age, DD was rolling over well on her own so I wasn't concerned, and I'm pretty vehement on having nothing in the crib. At 15 months I still won't allow any blankets or pillows. DD never showed any interest in chewing on the stuffy part though, so I never had that problem. In fact, it's only becoming an issue NOW- when she was just cutting her last teeth, she gnawed the tips of the pacifier and put holes in them. I had to replace them and she hasn't done it since, but I keep an eye out to make sure they're okay before I give them to her at night.

The AAP recommends the crib should be bare- a well fitting sheet and nothing else- they also recommend using a pacifier.
This gives an overview of recommendations: https://www.aap.org/en-us/about-the-aap/aap-press-room/pages/american-academy-of-pediatrics-announces-new-safe-sleep-recommendations-to-protect-against-sids.aspx

We put mesh bumpers on DD's crib specifically for the reason you mention, to eliminate the pacifiers falling out of the crib. They are perfectly safe and it definitely keeps them from falling out!
