Mermaid tails in the pool
I keep seeing pictures on Facebook of little girls wearing mermaid tails that bind their legs together in swimming pools.
Now I am not a scientist or a doctor or a genius but I feel this is a disaster waiting to happen. Seems a really great way to drown. While I haven't heard a horrific story yet um isn't it common knowledge you need BOTH legs to swim especially if you're a little girl of 6-12ish???
If you're a parents and have this or were thinking about buying please think a little harder. I hate these things and they look so dangerous.

My friends girls have them they are 5 and 8 and I cringe when I see them. My dd wants them and I won't buy it. I feel like they really do pose a drowning risk. It only takes a few seconds to drown

I don't like them. My friends daughters have them and I can't even watch at the pool, I get too nervous. The other day they asked me to watch them in the pool for a few minutes, I made them take the tails off immediately... they are cute and all but I am too anxious of a person to handle it

Never heard of this before, but after seeing the video ^^, that is one of the stupidest, most dangerous things I could ever imagine giving to a child.

I heard on NPR that a public pool in Canada banned them. I understand that even adults use them, for some odd reason.

I saw the same video. Terrifying. Such a stupid product. Unfortunately it's going to take some kids getting seriously hurt or worse for them to be recalled or pulled off the shelves.

FYI if your child is obsessed with these you can get on etsy mermaid tails that are crotchet blankets which looks adorable to snuggle with on the couch.
