my hubby is a bit on the chubby side and is not comfortable wearing no shirt while mowing the lawn...for some reason I have never been the "check guys out" type of woman anyway...one thing I can add is although I might not check out a hot guy, i do kinda get grossed out at the sight of my gross next door neighbor constantly walking around without his shirt on...BLECH!!

It can be very hot and if they want to take off their shirt then go ahead. Even if they are heavy it doesn't bother me...

My DH committed the unholiest of faux pas' the other day - shorts, BLACK socks, and sandals while mowing the lawn. I wish I had taken a picture.

Couldn't care less if a man wears a shirt mowing the lawn. I don't spend a lot of time watching people mow their lawns.
I do, however, think landscapers should look as professional as possible while mowing / landscaping... so I would expect my landscapers to keep their shirts on, no matter how they look underneat it.

Of course I only clicked your link from FHF because it said "topless lawn mowing" and I thought this would be more fun

I always wear a shirt, even when I was in good shape. Gives me something to wipe my brow with, and it gives me a little protection from any flying debris.
Also, it kept the neighbors from passing out from excitement years ago, and from passing out from fright now.....

Where I live if you don't have a landscaper you most likely have a ride on mower because there is a lot of grass and it grows fast in the warm weather! Plus it's so hot to be out there pushing a mower. My dad wears a t-shirt and a straw hat when goes out to mow - he's too cute, his old self riding around with his hat on 
I'm going to be honest - I think everyone should have a shirt on while mowing, otherwise I think it looks a little trashy. I feel like men topless should be reserved for the beach, pool, maybe if you are out exercising like running it's ok...but I don't know, I don't want to see my neighbors half naked when I look out my window...JMO
ETA: landscapers here are dressed in pants and button down light weight shirts with sleeves! and it's way hotter down here than in NY and they always look professional..

Dh would move the lawn naked if he could...and he's a furry, large guy...he usually wears a nice white trash muscle t instead
ETA: I am just happy he's taken over the mowing since my work schedule has picked up! I was usually the lawn maintainer! I always wore a shirt

if its hot out and that helps make him more comfortable then go for it
if you don't want to see your 'icky' neighbors shirtless then don't watch! i'd hate to think my neighbors are bothered by whatever i chose to wear outside on a hot day

If they are mowing their own lawn, they can be shirtless. I agree with a pp that landscapers are the exception to stay professional.
My DH mows shirtless when it's hot out because he doesn't want his farmer's tan to get any worse than it already is

I've never paid attention.
I more likely to notice an unsightly, overgrown lawn than a shirtless man mowing a lawn regardless of his physique and/or grooming habits.

My husband is my landscaper.
Besides having the best lawn in the neighborhood, I wouldn't mind seeing him mowing the lawn shirtless!
