kids mowing the lawn

11 year old boy, how much would you give your own son to cut the lawn every 7-10 days?

Would you give it as an option or a chore? (kid gets to decide on what chores he gets to do or he is told to do it?)

mowing the lawn used to be my chore when I was 12. My "allowance" was that I had a roof over my head and food on the table. I don't know what kids get for allowances these days, but 10 bucks maybe? Or am I just cheap?

never got money for mowing our lawn. never got an allowance. I guess they allowed us to eat their food and live in their home.

spending money was from babysitting.

My own kid? It would be a chore & it would be one of the chores towards his allowance.

My kids will not be allowed to chose the chores they get. They'll be rotated like they were in my house that way if there is one chore that's harder, everyone has a chance to do it. (um..everyone meaning the children. after all I plan to exploit child labor for as long as I can. )

As a chore for my own child...NOTHING it will be incorporated into their allowance....

I cant wait until the girls are old enough to cut the lawn...

allowance, maybe 10-15 $ depending on how big the lawn is and how long it takes. more if you have a big lawn

I think I got $15-20 a week (definitely $20 by the time I was a teenager), but I did not mow the lawn. I did babysit my sister after school and on weekends, cleaned a good chunk of the house, watered the plants, weeded the garden, etc.

It sounds like a lot of money, especially considering this was over 20 years ago, but I think my mother figured she would pay a lot more for a babysitter and a cleaning woman, and she trusted me with my sister. I did have to do my chores and babysit regularly though, if I slacked off, no money.
