Why can't they hide things better. Every year I figure out what I am getting and then I get mad at myself. WELL I just found a receipt for my gift sitting right on the counter  IT something I SO would have not figured out too

My DH is very bad at hiding things sometimes. He orders things and has the confirmations sent to his home email instead of his work email when he has me check home email at times for him.

maybe it's a trick - maybe he WANTED you to find the receipt to throw you off to the real gift
boosh and I are all about books and DVDs, so i order from amazon and ship them to MIL's house - so nothing is here

DH does the same thing. He actually talks and talks about what I want, then at the last minute says "I tried so hard but couldn't get xxxxxxxx, so it's going to be a slim chrismtas/birthday/etc" and then I get it anyway yea that trick worked once buddy, now I know what I am getting every time.

I'm the opposite. I usually tease DW for weeks before her b-day or Christmas when I get something really good for her. She can never figure it out. Even when she does, I never let on. I don't think she's figured out one yet that I didn't want her to. (This Christmas she ...I mean *I*... bought her a KitchenAid, so she knows about that gift...)

Is it something you wanted at least? Tell him you know what he bought you so he has to buy you another surprise in addition to this.
My DH told me he bought me a gift in Best Buy 2 seconds later he asked me if I like Led Zeppelin so obviously he bought me a CD. I like them enough not to change the radio if they are on and I have a few albums but I am not a die hard fan. The best part though is he bought the gift with a Best Buy giftcard someone gave me.
