Membrane stripping

Ok... so i'm 38w5d and FINALLY i'm 1cm dilated!! DH and I are desperate to have this baby before he deploys. Chat Icon As of right now, he is leaving on Saturday (we're working on getting that extended, but who knows).

Anywho......

Was finally able to get the stripping done this morning and all I can say is....OOOOOUUUUUCCCCHHHH!!! Holy geez! Dr knows how badly we are wanting Chat Icon to arrive so I think he really went for it, but gosh darn it! It better work!

Has anyone had this done? What was your outcome? Any info/advice is REALLY appreciated. Thanks!!! Now i'm going to have a Cinnabon and relax Chat Icon

I had that done and yea, OUCH!

After I had them stripped, I lost my mucous plug in the next 2 days and then had my son on the 3rd day.

I had it done too!!! It was something out of a horror film!

About a week after I gave birth, a midwife came to my house (in the UK we have midwives come to our house everyday for about a month to check up on us, really they check for PND, but its a nice service) and she did a vag check to make sure everything was good...and she pulled a HUGE piece of membrane from out of my front lady bottom. It was like Alien...but very very funny.

Good Luck! Big labor vibes coming your way!

Omg ouch.

I had them stripped and still ended up with a lengthy failed induction at 1 week past due that ended up in a c-section. Hope your results are better! Chat Icon

Thanks for checking on me Chat Icon I'll keep you posted!!

Well, I know that a lot of women bleed after internals, and being that yours was a MAJOR internal, I guess it can be normal. But the contractions are a good sign. Are you still having them?Chat Icon

Re: Membrane stripping

I had my membranes stripped at 1 PM and went into labor around 10:30 PM....or at least that's when I noticed it. However, I was already 6 days past my due date. AND I was in labor for 35 hours.....but it worked. Chat Icon Good luck!!!

Re: Membrane stripping

I had it done but it was part of my induction. The doc was hoping it would jump start labor---it didn't so pitocin it was shortly thereafter (I was only 37 weeks at the time).

Good luck! I hope your DH can hang in there and be with you during the birth of your child.Chat Icon Chat Icon

OMG JO!!! I have been praying that Chat Icon comes so that you and John get some time with her before he is deployed. I didn't have my membranes stripped but I know when they broke my water in the hospital I started bleeding bright red as well. Nurse said it was the "bloody show" and it was a great sign that Daniel was on his way. I am sure you are losing your mucus plug and Chat Icon will make her arrival soon!!!

COME ON BABY GIRL!!!! MOMMY AND DADDY WANT TO MEET YOU!!!

Re: Membrane stripping

Looks like things are on hold again....Chat Icon . Nothing much has happened since last night and i'm so upset now.

I'm not sure if i'm just emotionally exhausted or what, but i've been doing nothing but crying since 2am.

Poor DH... he's been a saint. We put in for an extension on his delayed deployment, we'll know by late tonight what comes of that. I guess since Chat Icon is nice and cozy and not looking to come out, it all rests on what happens at the meeting with his Sgt today...........
