Anyone know anything about this area?

We were all set on Raleigh, NC but dh may have a job opportunity down there in FL. We lived in south Florida years ago so heat isn't a concern of ours.

Ahhhhhhh.

Re: Melbourne, FL

I have good friends who relocated to Melbourne about 2 years ago. She had a job transfer with her company. They really like it, and bought a nice home last year. House prices are not cheap where they bought, I think their's was around $400,000, nice average sized home.
Don't know anything about the schools, as her kids are out of school.
We visited in October and thought the area was very nice. They have a newer home which came with hurricane shutters, and the only damage they had from hurricane Matthew was one palm tree down

Was just there over the break b/c my mom lives near there (in Rockledge). I don't know anything about the schools, but there's a lot to do in the area between Cocoa Beach (we like Cocoa Village), Kennedy Space Center, Orlando, and the Brevard Zoo. The roads felt so wide compared to here so driving wasn't really an issue (not sure about morning traffic though since it was during the holidays).

Thanks guys. School would either be private or charter. Don't know how not to sound snobby but I don't know any New Yorkers who have moved down there and used public. The public schools just don't have good ratings. The realtor my cousin used, I just got off the phone with her, even suggested private or charter.
