meals vs. bottles

When feeding, do you give food along with a bottle at the same meal? Or do you space it out so that there's some time between bottles and food.

And if you give food along with bottles, did you do food first or bottle first?

My ped didn't really have an opinion on this, so looking for others thoughts.

Re: meals vs. bottles

i spaced it out. She had 3 meals a day at traditional times for meals, and she had bottles after meals/before naps or bedtime. So for example she'd have bkfast at 8, bottle at 10, nap 1015-whenever, lunch at like 1, bottle at like 2:30, nap 245-whenever. dinner at 630, bottle right before bed. at one point there was a 4th bottle after her 2nd nap.

I space it out. Dd only gets a morning and night bottle. Breakfast is usually 9, lunch 1, dinner 5. And then some snacks in between when possible.

DD gets one bottle at wake up, then like an hour-2 later breakfast, then a bottle before her nap. Lunch after her nap and then dinner and then another bottle before bed.

All at same time. There are two bottles of the day that DS gets that have no meals w them. Those are larger oz bottles, the ones with meals are smaller.

Re: meals vs. bottles

The 3 larger bottles are alone. Then 2 smaller ones with food first.

Re: meals vs. bottles

I usually give them fairly close together or else I'd feel like I'm constantly feeding her.

I spaced it out a little bit (about an hour or so). He usually wasn't too hungry for his bottle right after eating.

Re: meals vs. bottles

I space it out. There were a few reasons, but a big one was that DD preferred a bottle over solid foods a lot of times, especially if she was trying something new or something she didn't LOVE.

Re: meals vs. bottles

I space it out. She wont usually take a bottle if food is around. I make 6 oz bottles but most of the time she only drinks maybe 4-5
6am wake up bottle,
7:30 banana or waffle,
9:00 Bottle
11:30 Lunch
Nap time
3:30 bottle
6:30 Dinner
