MD appointment timing ?
I plan to see my MD if this cycle didn't work to discuss the possibility of fertility testing (maybe just start with CD3 bloodwork and a semen anaylsis). Do I wait until I get AF and call to demand CD3 b/w, or should I make an appt (if I can even get one) for before AF is due, so I can actually see her before the b/w? I think AF is due the 26th, (anyone know Hanauer's schedule?). So, I'd be banking on her calling me back ASAP to order b/w for Friday.
Has anyone had experience with this? Will she make me come in and then wait for my next cycle to order CD3 b/w? Also, I'm nervous b/c AF hasn't really been too predictable the last few months - what happens if she doesn't come until Friday - can I have b/w done on Sunday?

Re: MD appointment timing ?
I called my MD and demanded CD3 bloodwork. However, he & I had discussed TTC and he gave me a specific time frame to TTC before beginning testing so he was expecting my call (but hoping it wouldn't come).

Re: MD appointment timing ?
I can only offer my personal experience. i bypassed my regular ob and went to see an RE. i just made an appoinment, had the consultation. the doctor then said after my next period that he wanted to do cd 3 testing and sent my DH for a SA. that same month i continued with blood tests and sonos and had an iui last week. I would reccommend seeing a specialist if you have any concerns. i had only been trying for 8 months and the doctor sent me for all that testing. basically i wouldn't wait until your next period i would make the appointment right away and see the doctor and set everything up accordingly.

Re: MD appointment timing ?
Thanks for your advice. It's scary for me, but I think it's time to get a little more proactive. DH isn't really on-board (he doesn't object, but doesn't think it's necessary yet). His claim is we got pg once, so there must not be a problem (which very well may be, but I'm sick of wondering). My point is - what if there is/was a problem, and getting pg was the fluke - not vis versa?
I just called H's ofc now - she can't see me until August so they let me speak to a nurse practicioner who said she'll send me a Rx for CD3 b/w, and I asked for a thyroid panel as well (I had an issue when I was pg that was never resolved and the MD I saw still says, "I can't explain it" )
So, I guess I'm kind of relieved, and scared. Come next week, I'll either know I'm pg or I'll be taking a step in finding some answers.
I did get a little excited today when the smell of some dirty man on the subway had me gagging for a good 5-minutes. I had to laugh at myself when I thought about how happy I was to almost have puked thinking it could mean something (but then again, the way this guy smelled could make anyone sick).

I think I would demand an appt.
is there someone else in the office that you can see. (besides a nurse practicioner?)

My purpose was to get a prescription for CD3 bloodwork, which the nurse is sending me. I'm satisfied with that for now. I would think it'd be more effective to have the appt after we get these results.

Good for you. I always think it's better to be proactive and you look like you're on the right track! Take care of the bloodwork now and then go see your doctor in August.
Best of luck!!!

Honestly, I just have read about it on here. I haven't gotten the Rx yet, so I don't know for sure, but this is what I found online. None of it makes sense to me now, but obviously I intend to sit down w/ my MD if something comes back "off":
Day, Test Normal Result Day 3 FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) range 3-20 mlU/ml Day 3 E2 (estradiol or estrogen) range 25 - 75 pg/ml Day 3 LH (luteinizing hormone) range 5 - 20 mlU/ml Day 3 Prolactin less than 25 ng/ml Day 10 FSH range 9-28 mlU/ml (about twice day 3 level) Day 12-14 E2 200-600 pg/ml for 1 follicle at about 18mm Surge Day LH range 25-40 mlU/ml Day 21 Progesterone (or 7 days post-ov) greater than 14 ng/ml TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) 0.4-3.8 uIU/ml Free T3 1.4-4.4 pg/ml Free Thyroxine (T4) 0.8-2.0 ng/dl Total Testosterone 6.0-86 ng/dl Free Testosterone 0.7-3.6 pg/ml HEAS 35-430 ug/dl Androstenedione 0.7-3.1 ng/ml
Again, I found this online and have no clue what it all means (other than the TSH level b/c I had an elevated level when I was pregnant). Anyway, my point is I'm not sure how accurate this information is.
