max at north shore
I'm a little upset so i figured I'd talk about it here..I thought I would be able to volunteer at north shore and went in for a meeting. While doing my tour we were in the puppies and kitten room...there in a cage was this black dog with a shirt on..i said why does this guy get a shirt and they said b/c he came with it...turns out poor max is 15 years old and got left at the shelter!My heart was broken. He was old started having caterax, and now to end his life he is in a cage! He should spend his last years warm with people who love him! So my DH and I were giong to take him...but with the holidays I will be traveling to PA a lot to see my family..we are totally heartbroken!! How coudl someone do that? Anyone know of someone who would want to take him? Here's his pic and bio!

Max is a little Schipperke with a big heart waiting to share it with you. He likes to reach his paws out and make sure are near him. Max is a sweet boy and loves getting all the attention. This is why I could NEVER volunteer in a shelter. I would want to rescue them all.

That was my problem. I realized that I wouldn't be able to do it I feel bad b/c I know it's good but I wouldn't be able to leave them behind. This one max breaks my heart cause he had a home for 15 years!

same here...i always wanted to but my heart would be in pieces.  poor max. someone will take him

I thought so too, but I went for that tour in early October! Now it's November 4th and I saw him on their website! I can't believe he's still there

you mentioned your DH and you were considering taking in Max but you may be traveling for the holidays..do you think someone could watch him for the holidays (like a vets office etc)? I feel so bad for the poor animal.

Well it's more then just a little time...like I'm going to pa for the weekend after thanksgiving, then again the 2nd weekend in December then again for the week around Christmas, and then to the DR in January...it's just not fair to the dog. Our current dog comes with us, but my parents will already have 3 dogs at their house and said I can't bring this new one too:(

My step father had a 19 year old Schipperke that just recently pasted away. He was so spunky(which was also his name) up until the day he passed. Such great dogs!

I'm with you on this one. In early October when I first found out I kept thinking about him and everyone kept saying that he'll get adopted..and i would check to see if his picture was online and by chance I recently thought of him and his picture is now on their site! and I couldnt beleive he was still there! I wrote north shore. When I inquired about him at first they said his teeth were bad and stuff...but i wrote this time to see what medical attention he needs b/c that could be an expense for people...but hopefully someone can do something for this poor dog

Can we send out e-mails?
Does anyone know anyone who can at least foster him?
I am serious..I would take him now if I could but I have the 2 cats and a very rambunctious Golden retriever...plus now is just not a good time with doing IVF.
eta I just sent out a huge mass email in the hopes that it will get passed along somehow to someone who wants to help..
It may just be my hormones but this one really got to me.

Awww that's great you sent out an e mail thank you! I was just so happy to hear he was adopted! He deserves to be in a nice home!

My Dad wanted him, but my Mom said she couldn't bare to have another dog and fall in love with him and watch him die (She kind of lost it when my childhood Westie had to be put down)
