Maturity
Define it for me please. Give me what you see as the markers of a mature individual.
For me - the biggest marker of maturity is acceptance. The realization that it really does "take all kinds" and loosening up that desire to label and judge every person you come across.
What makes a person a "grown up" in your eyes? Age? Experience? Emotional development?

Re: Maturity
for me, being mature is a few things:
the ability to accept that you're not always right
the knowledge that you don't know everything but are still willing to learn
the feeling that you still have lots of room for personal growth - and the desire to grow
the understanding that success can mean different things for different people - and actually being okay with that
having a plan, even if that plan is just to change the path you're already on - just coasting is not an option anymore

Re: Maturity
I think the ability to think rationally has a lot to do with it too.

Very well said...and I totally agree!!!!
All I could come up with was:
"you know when you are an adult when you drive passed a field of cows without going Mooooooooo..."
You said it much better!!!!!

All kidding aside, Headoverheels, that was VERY well put. I completely agree.
I'd like to add: loving unconditionally.

Re: Maturity
I also think a sign of maturity is when you realize the world doesn't revolve around you and you can put others needs in front of yours.

the first thing i thought of was
Having an umbrella when it's supposed to rain.
(that was one of the things that made me realize i had really grown up- i was actually prepared, in that sense).
DH always says that it's being able to wait for what you want, not needing that instant gratification.
I think that it's making the best decision- even if that decision doesn't suit your own best interest.
