Maternity Indemnity Plan

Anybody heard of this before.

Cash for Maternity

You sign up before you get pregnant and pay the monthly premium and then when you have the baby you get a check made out to you to do with as you see fit (by the main goal is to help with out of pocket expenses incurred for delivery)

Anybody done it before?

Re: Maternity Indemnity Plan

I haven't heard of this before....and I am super skeptical about things like this...I'd be worried I wouldn't see a penny of my money back!!

But, perhaps it's legit and worth it...I'm sure I'd need to do a TON of investigating first.

Re: Maternity Indemnity Plan

I would check with my insurance company before committing to something like this.

literally... my out of pocket expense is $300. IF the baby needs the NICU then it's an additional $300 for the baby.

I too would be wary of this. How do they make money off it? I would also be nervous I'd never see my money again.

If you are worried about saving money for the out of pocket expenses, then take the "premium" they would charge you and put it in a separate bank account that you own.

Re: Maternity Indemnity Plan

Never heard of this-- the only thing I have ever heard of is getting disability insurance through Aflac or something like that.

That web site looks a little shady to me too.

I guess they make their money by people opting for Option 3, and then only having a 2 night stay.

what if you sign up and get pregnant like a month later... then you only put in 80 or so dollars?

OR what if it unfortunately takes like 2+ years to get pregnant, then you are paying much more than what you are getting.

it seems really strange to me. I'd go with my suggestion of just stashing money away in an account you own.
