My neighbor has a couple of French Mastiffs (aka: Dogue De Bordeaux) and has had a number of them over the years. He has a website called RougeHooch.com .
It's a pretty comprehensive website that contains ALOT of information.
On a personal note, I think they're BEAUTIFUL dogs and wish you the best in your search.

I love Mastiffs! I don't have one but I often see someone walking one through Bayport and he's the coolest looking dog! Good luck!

We have a Mastiff and she is a wonderful dog. We got her from Brookhaven shelter almost three years ago. She is great with my 11 month old daughter too. Loves to play with other dogs she's always running around. There are a bunch of Mastiff's at the dog park we go to and they are all very well behaved. We thing ours might be mixed with a boxer too, but we're not entirely sure.

I have a Bullmastiff and he is the love of my life. (See my album, I am on vacation on my MIL's computer and have no pics on here). DH and I researched many dog breeds and decided on the Bullmastiff due to temperament, love of people and children, and the fact they are pretty territorial and stay close to home and their owners, just to name a few things. He looks menacing and mean but is like a bunny rabbit. The most loveable dog I ever met. He rarely barks, unless he hears somethinbg outside abd even then he just makes sure we are safe. They are not known to bite, even when they attack a burglar, they will just drag them down and hold them. (That is their history, they were bred for poachers hundreds of years ago.) My ex-boyfriends roommate had a French Mastiff who was a rescue and he was just as gentle.
