Master's
Has anyone gone back for their master's after being in the workforce for several years? How did you logistically handle the applications? I keep reading you need letters of recommendation from professors even when going back after a long hiatus. I graduated 10 years ago. There is no way I can get a letter from a professor who probably didn't know who I was 10 years ago (large public university) let alone now.
I honestly couldn't tell you what my GPA was. I think it was ok? It definitely wasn't a 4.0. How much do they weigh that for someone whose been in the workforce for 10 years?
I feel like people do this all the time and it's no big deal then I start reading and I'm like "well, this is a PITA."

Master's
I graduated in 1992 with my bachelor's and I started a master's at Hofstra summer of 2016. I started taking courses as a non-matriculated student - not yet applying for the program. I wanted to see if it was going to be possible since I have a child and work full time. I think you can take 3 classes before you have to be in a program (or the classes wouldn't count toward the degree). By that time the faculty knew me and I was able to ask one of them for a recommendation. The other 2 letters came from my supervisors at my job.
I've been taking exclusively online courses. It's not easy but it's easier for me to fit into my work/home life schedule because I can do it whenever I'm available (instead of having to be available every week at a specific time).

I wouldn’t worry about the letters and asking because most professors/teachers usually have a template.

I went to law school 6 years after I got my bachelors degree. I'm pretty sure I was able to use letters from employers. I know I did not get letters from professors.
And it's probably pretty easy to get a copy of your undergrad transcript online - at least to look at for yourself. The schools you are applying to will want a certified copy directly from the school, but you can at least get a copy to review and remind you of what classes you took, grades etc
