Re: massage in 2ww
I got one in the 2 ww once and told her I could be pg. She made sure to avoid certain areas in my ankles. Just let them know, but it should be fine.

Wow, this post is very interesting. I never knew getting a massage while pregnant could be bad.

Re: massage in 2ww
I've just heard that getting massaged in certain areas of the body could induce labor. Could very well be an old wives tale, but I remember my SIL talking about it when she was pregnant.
ETA: They do prenatal massages for pregnant women so I guess they avoid certain areas??

actually, i WOULDN'T tell them you might be pregnant. depending on the spa they may refuse to do the massage. that happened to me at a red door spa. i said i was TTC and in the 2WW and they said sorry we cannot do your massage. they have a strict policy. it turned out i had a chemical that cycle anyway so it wouldn't have mattered. but if i could do it again i prob would've just kept my mouth shut, although that is entirely up to you cause technically you are withholding information. my advice is that if you are getting a massage at a reputable spa and are worried about it, just call and ask and see if they will still do it before you go. it will save you the time and annoyance of showing up and finding out that they wont do it.
most places wont do any massage to women in the first trimester. most prenatal massages are in the second or third trimester. certain foot massages are said to induce labor so some women avoid them during pregnancy (i did not) and others use them to TRY to induce labor near the end!!

I guess it depends on the place/person. I also went to a red door (in garden city) they told me that they would still do it but they would change the places they massage just in case. I ended up not being pg that cycle but looking back I still would have told her because apparently certain strokes of the massage change the blood flow to certain areas. Some could be dangerous to a newly attached embryo. Or, if you are going through IF treatments, it can hurt the process of embies attaching properly.

Re: massage in 2ww
It dfinitely depends on the place and person (and, I believe, their training). I get massages in my chiro's office by a massage therapist who is also a physical therapist and she has no problem working with ppl in the first trimester. I think a lot of spa masseuses have different training (?) so that might be the reason for their policy.
