Massage at nail salon

Do you skip this or do you like to have this done after nails? I am speaking about the massage after you finish your nails. I usually tell them I don't want one as last year I had a minor surgery in shoulder area and just continued to say I didn't want one. Well, today I just let the nail tech do it and oh my god she hurt me. Never again. She was pounding on my shoulders at the end. I mean really hard. I was about to tell her to stop and she stopped on her own. Squeezing my neck, my shoulders. I hope I am ok as I am in pain now. Everyone seems to like this but I have decided I will never let them touch me again. Am I the only one that feels this way?

I was actually injured by a nail salon massage after a pedicure many years ago. My neck was sore and I couldn’t turn my head comfortably for days. I have declined them ever since.
Before my injury I never liked or enjoyed them but felt rude saying no.

Massage at nail salon

I got so badly bruised once, it was scary. I was too shy to tell her to stop at the time, so now ever since I say no thank you, I have to go before they even start

Wow, I thought I was the only one. I gave in today and hope I am ok now. It was crazy how she pounded on my shoulders at the end. I was just about to tell her to stop. I will never allow this again.

Massage at nail salon

i've never even heard of them.
the only thing i've ever been offered is a hand/arm massage when i get a mani and a foot/let massage when i get a pedi... and they charge extra for it.

Omg thus happened to me once and I also couldn’t turn my neck for days and was in terrible pain. I was going for acupuncture at the time for fertility and I mentioned it to him and he said similar once happened to his wife and that these people aren’t certified masseurs and shouldn’t be touching you. I seriously felt like I had been beaten up.

It took nearly a week but it finally went away....... I turned them down at that place ever since, but do get them sometimes at the place I go now, (half the time I’ll decline) so I guess you can say I wasn’t permanently traumatized.

Re: Massage at nail salon

I wanna add, I’ll personally never understand the appeal of sitting in that massage chair out in the open while there are people all around and they set the timer.

First of all, even the free massage sucks, but regardless, how can sitting like that surrounded by people and chatter be relaxing????

Maybe someone can enlighten me. Chat Icon

I decline now. In the past, it has always hurt me and it just makes me uncomfortable. I got my nails done last week and I saw another older woman decline the massage also.

I find that they are usually REALLY HARD or so soft. I don't mind when they skip it, but I've also never been injured from it. When I want a massage, I go to a spa!

Same. I rarely get my nails done anymore because they all suck to be honest, but when i used to I didn't mind the "massage" but it was like 2 seconds and never hard enough for me. It did nothing for me to be honest.

I absolutely love them! I could care less about beingnin the open and having people see. I go for hour massages at spas but this one woman at the nail place is the best massager ever. I don’t care if she’s certified or not. I also like it hard and fine generally people are too soft. I feel so so freaking good after I leave the nail salon it’s addictive. Way better then if I pay for a pricey massage at a spa. If someone is massaging too hard just say softer, also if I had surgery or any sort of previous injury I wouldn’t go.

Re: Massage at nail salon

I always get the massage, my back is always stiff and if its harder than usual, I find it relaxes my neck more. I have no issues with it since it usually is too short for my taste (3-5 minutes). I wont go to any nail salon where they dont offer the massage while you dry your nails.

Re: Massage at nail salon

When I was younger I use to let them but I always hated it. I really should have declined. Than I had back surgery and I won’t let anyone touch my neck or back especially someone who has 0 training.

I HATE it and the feel of fabric massaged against my skin feels terrible. I have no problem saying 'No thank you'.

This! It's my favorite part of my manicure! But my manicurist does a really good job, I don't care if she's trained or not. She always works out the knots/tightness I usually have when I go!

I hate it. My shoulders go up to my ears and it makes he whole think awkward and painful. It’s not relaxing to have someone punching on your back.
