Just found out my 1 kid will have to wear a mask indoors for school. Not sure about the other one.

College-aged kids have some of the lowest vaccination rates (because I’m sure it’s all a big joke to them and they are invincible and know everything) so I can see mandating masks for school.

Article from June says 64% have been vaccinated.https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2021/06/07/infographic-what-students-really-think-about-covid-vaccine#.YO3R9b1W4aM.link

I don’t know any college kid who has that attitude honestly and I think SUNY and CUNY is doing this to push the vaccines as they can’t require them until they are approved by the FDA.

They are "doing this" because EVERYONE who is not vaccinated is still supposed to be wearing a mask anywhere indoors when distancing is not possible. I know most people aren't following that rule, but it is still in place. This should not be news to anyone. The fact that you "just found out" speaks volumes

So I'm confused- do only unvaccinated college students have to wear masks? If you can prove you're vaccinated can you attend class maskless?

Depends on the rules of each particular college. But wearing masks for unvaccinated, anywhere, has never been eliminated

I know. However most signage now says strongly recommended for non vaccinated people- not required- so not sure what the actual mandate is.
Recommended does not mean required. So they make it a fine line

I would think requirements at most colleges will be more stringent than stores etc. As of right now, in NY, unvaccinated individuals are supposed to continue wearing a mask, per Federal CDC Guidance. Yes, it's on the honor system and it appears "out there" that most people are ignoring that - because I see very few people still wearing masks anywhere - but colleges will have much more leverage to enforce any requirements they put in place than Target or ShopRite.

In NYS there no longer is a mandate in most places. Businesses may set their own rules.

Exceptions include public transit, k-12 schools, nursing homes, and a bunch of other similar type places. Not college, although SUNY/CUNY might have a thing going on.

I have seen signs on doors ranging from "strongly recommended for unvaccinated" to "required for unvaccinated" to the occasional "masks required for all." I just read the sign on the door to make sure before I go maskless just in case. Although I try to just avoid going to stores period for a bunch of different reasons lol.

Vaccinated and non vaccinated all have to wear masks indoors as they can’t ask and yes, they are pushing the vaccine as they want all students to be vaccinated but at this time can’t make it mandatory.

I honestly have not seen one store that says masks required to come in, in awhile. Doctors and dentists, absolutely.

I saw it at a 7-11 recently, but everyone, including the staff had no mask on. I assumed it was an old sign they never took down.
Nobody paid it one bit of mind.

It is pretty common in my neighborhood.
A few places just removed or changed their signs last week, but yesterday I went to a small produce store that has a new notice clearly stating to wear a mask even if vaccinated. I appreciated their clarity. Chat Icon

My bagel store still has their old masks required sign.

Why are you" sure the other sign was with it"? Have you been there? Did you see it? Do you not think the person who posted it is not capable of seeing what signs are there?Chat Icon Chat Icon

There was one sign about masks. It said "masks required to enter" or some such phrase.

I can't say for sure because I wasn't there that long and I don't really give a shit either way, but if I had to hazard a guess I would say a little more than half the people had masks on.

I said occasional. I saw the sign at JCP just the other day. I assumed it was old, but I wore the mask in case it wasn't.

I am sure the other sign was with it. Was everyone else in there wearing masks? That is how you usually can tell.

Why are you" sure the other sign was with it"? Have you been there? Did you see it? Do you not think the person who posted it is not capable of seeing what signs are there?Chat Icon Chat Icon

Why do you automatically just attack? The bigger stores have lifted their mask mandate first so that is why I asked. Most places you can judge by the staff and people walking around.

Just found out my 1 kid will have to wear a mask indoors for school. Not sure about the other one.

College-aged kids have some of the lowest vaccination rates (because I’m sure it’s all a big joke to them and they are invincible and know everything) so I can see mandating masks for school.

I honestly have not seen one store that says masks required to come in, in awhile. Doctors and dentists, absolutely.

There was one sign about masks. It said "masks required to enter" or some such phrase.

I can't say for sure because I wasn't there that long and I don't really give a shit either way, but if I had to hazard a guess I would say a little more than half the people had masks on.

You are vaccinated?

You do know that private businesses can set their own policies, right? And if that is the policy of a store, why wouldn't you follow it? The store had a sign posted requiring a mask. The poster wore a mask. What is your problem with that? You don't want to wear one, don't go there. Period. End. Of. Story.

Did you even read her response? You are so ready to attack me about not wearing a mask that you didn’t see she didn’t even notice because she was running in and out.
I have NEVER said ONCE I have a problem with a business making that rule AND abiding by it.
You need to follow your poster name and CHILL lol

It’s actually you who misread my response. I very specifically noticed the sign. I put the mask on in accordance with the posted policy.

You then asked if a lot of people were wearing masks and that’s what I didn’t pay much attention to so I just estimated
