Great job! You seem like you are going to be in great shape for Philly!
I did my first 20 miler last week (and was very happy that it was under 3:20).
This week was a step back week for me, but I was feeling under the weather, so I'm hoping to get the 12 miles in tomorrow.

I did 16 on friday in 2:40! I find that I'm recovering a lot quicker each time too. I drop down to 12 this week and then 18 the next. Less than 2 months to NYC!

Rest. I think alot of people go to PT and there is a ton of stretch that can be down on your own too. From what I hear from most people - 4 weeks rest and stretching is best. I am not doing PT though.
I can run if I really wanted but it is super painful. Also my leg feels so stiff and I could barely lift it when trying to finish Saturday. Had to call hubby 12 miles into my 16 mile run to come get me! ARGH!

Re: Marathoners come in <3
Thanks!
I finished!!!!! Last week it took me 2:57 to run 18 and today it took 3 hours and 16 minutes to do 20. So I guess I slowed down a bit. No soreness today. Last time was shorter and more painful, so I guess that is good!!!
We'll have to see about tomorrow though!!!

Re: Marathoners come in <3
I did my last 20 miles today!!! Let the taper begin!
I'm in a bit of pain. I decided to kill two birds with one run. I ran 4 loops of the Cow Harbor 10K (minus the first mile) to prepare for next week's race. I had to walk up James Street the fourth time!
I hope I can recover for Saturday's 10K. I think I'm treating myself to a massage tomorrow night.

Congrats! I do my first 20 on friday, I'm a little nervous lol. The massage sounds like a great idea, good luck with everything!

Re: Marathoners come in <3
WOW great job ladies-i just caught up on this thread :) I just did my first half marathon yesterday (Diva Half). I am definitely going to keep up with my runs from on until my next race (have not signed up for any yet). I would like to complete another half before I mover on to a full, but you ladies are so inspiring. What does your training schedule for a full look like?

There are training plans that fit anyone's schedule.
You could run as little as 3 (with a cross train day) or 4 days a week.
You will have to run 20 miles at least once during a 16 week training cycle (with a few 16s and 18s as well).
You should also do a sort of long run midweek (6-10 miles).
The rest of the week is easy running for your first marathon (I do hill and tempo workouts - towards the end of training, I trade hills for speed). Fulls are much tougher than halfs and the last 10K (after 20 miles) is unpredictable. Your first marathon should just be about completing.
I am officially freaking out - I run 26.2 on Saturday!

Re: Marathoners come in <3
Good luck Erica!!
I had to take a week off since I've had a bad cough and cold. Still have the cough but its sloooowly getting better. i did 18 last friday in 3:05. My left hip was really aching the next morning. I did 5 today while doing hill work on the treadmill. My hip wasn't too bad until I got home and now it hurts again I'm going to do the elliptical and bike for a bit tomorrow. I'm hoping I'll recover for my 9 mile run on wednesday, if not then I'll stick to the elliptical and hopefully be fine for my 20 miler on friday!

WOW thank you and good luck! My goal would be to finish it without walking. Maybe I will do another half or two before I do a full...
