Making your bed
So what's on your bed? I had a friend who only used a quilt over a fitted sheet and I remember finding that odd- but it is SO much easier to make the bed that way!
When I met DH he was sleeping between two quilts. I nearly because he did not own sheets. Such a bachelor.

Re: Making your bed
We have a sheet blanket and comfiter but we only sleep under the blanket, the sheet stays tucked in and the comfiter comes off the bed.

Re: Making your bed
Depends on the season.
Winter: sheet - 2-3 blankets - comforter (we keep the house chilly)
Summer: sheet - comforter
Fall and spring vary depending upon the temperature.

Re: Making your bed
we don't use a top sheet in the winter at our apartment. we each use our own comforter though since we are each blanket hogs.
so we have fitted sheet, comforter, comforter.

Re: Making your bed
alot of people seem to not like a top sheet. Well the comforter is hard to wash (so big) & now it touches your body @ night & needs to be washed. A sheet is so easy. DH has learned to embrace the sheet.
Prior to DH, I had a blanket always. DH is always hot & now he keeps me warm so I don't need it anyway.

fitted sheet, top sheet, quit and then a blanket to prevent the cat hair from invading oh, and when she pukes (cause cats puke) so likes to do it on our bed easier to wash the blanket thats on top than the big, heavy quilt!

Re: Making your bed
hubby never had a flat sheet or a blanket; just fitted sheet and comforter... i always had a fitted sheet, flat sheet, blanket in winter and comforter on top
we use flat and fitted sheets now and i have to admit, he is such a hog that it is annoying making the bed in the morning because he spaghetti twirls the fitted sheet all around him somehow, and i have to retuck etc to make the bed every day...

Re: Making your bed
When I was single I slept on a fitted sheet with just a comforter but now that I have learned to compromise because of this marriage thing I sleep with a sheet & comforter
I thought this picture was appropriate for the topic

Re: Making your bed
top sheet and a blanket
i take the comforter off the bed every night and only wash it at the beginning of each season, unless it gets dirty for some reason.

Re: Making your bed
I use a fitted sheet (no top sheet- it always ends up at my feet anyway so I dont see the point) then I have 2 thin blankets one is a thin knit . The comforter gets rolled down and is only for "decoration"

I never in my life used a sheet under my comforter until I shared a bed with DH. He's convinced it's a jewish thing to not use a sheet under the comforter.

LOL, just the opposite here. I'm jewish and it skeeves me to not use a top sheet. DH (who is irish catholic) never used one and hates that I insist on it. The thought of skin touching the duvet makes me

I LOVE in the summer to turn down the bed in the air conditioned room...then the sheets are so nice and chilly when you get into bed

Re: Making your bed
Fitted sheet, top sheet, velux blanket (for all seasons), a heavier blanket (when it is colder out) and the comforter (we don't use the comforter when we sleep).

Re: Making your bed
we have a fitted sheet on the bottom. In the winter, my side is the sheet, my own conforter and the shared duvet. In the winter, DH has a blanket, then his own comforter then the shared duvet.
In the summer, we lose the duvet and he looses the blanket. Though I usually just lose a sheet. It is always FREEZING in our bedroom though.
p.s. DH isn't Jewish but he HATES using a sheet And I HAVE to have a sheet, at least a sheet. So it works out well that I get the sheet and he doesn't lol

Re: Making your bed
we have a top sheet and a comforter. I want to get rid of the comforter and get a down blanket with a duvet cover. That's how I'm used to sleeping. I hate the top sheet - it gets all tangled up because of the way DH sleeps.

Re: Making your bed
I have to have a flat sheet with the corners tucked in (DH untucks his so his feet feel "free"). I'm weird about my bed and it would freak me out not to have something between me and the comforter. Plus I like that I can wash my top sheet regularly... I'd think it would be a PITA to have to wash the comforter that frequently!
