Major sleep regression - I need help!

With the exception of very short-lived bumps, my 2.5 year old dd has always gone down to sleep no problem. But for the past month, she has been resisting sleep, calling us in for water, to sing to her, to pat her hiney - basically anything to prevent sleep. It's torture. We try to let her cry, but that leads to either 1) her making herself throw up. Or 2) her standing up and almost falling out of the crib. Any thoughts?

Major sleep regression - I need help!

Dd went through this with naps, at a younger age though...about 17 months. She would get so upset to the point she would throw up. It lasted a week or two. It was a phase and eventually it stopped. It was a separation thing.

Re: Major sleep regression - I need help!

DD just turned 20 months and has been doing this for the past few nights too. She used to go down around 7:30 with no problem and now she cries and cries with tears and boogers everywhere. I've been taking her out and she will lay on my chest-which is something she would never do! lol she just fell asleep 10 minutes ago....

I'm thinking it's teething or separation anxiety. In any case, I hope it stops soon. Bedtime used to be a breeze, now it's like she's an infant again Chat Icon

I just went through this with DD and she is 21 months old.

It is a phase...she went back to being a good sleeper...just comfort DC and wait it out. Look up sleep regression with your child's age and it will say why they are going through it...With DD it was separation anxiety but hopefully (knock on wood) she out grew it.

Major sleep regression - I need help!

Anytime we've had a sleep regression lately, it's been teeth related. Eventually it passes but it sucks while it's happening.

She has all her molars. It may be a wave of separation anxiety. She's been more attached lately. Oh the fun!
