Famed Magnolia's Bakery Shut Down
NEW YORK (AP) -- There's a cupcake crisis in New York City.
The city's Department of Health has shut down the famed Magnolia Bakery in the West Village.
The health department told the bakery it needs a hand sink in the area where it makes those delicious cupcakes made famous in ``Sex and the City'' and a ``Saturday Night Live'' video.
According to a bakery spokesman, the bakery was also cited for a missing door handle, a missing light cover, and several mouse droppings and fruit flies in its garbage area.
The bakery says it intends to fix all the problems by this evening and try to reopen tomorrow morning.

Have you tried Buttercup Bakery - I think its just as good. It's on 52nd and 2nd ave.
Yup, same owners as magnolia I believe. I saw that segment -- I thought it reopened already though.

I've never been to Magnolia, but I hate Buttercup. I love Sugar Sweet Sunshine, which is run by people who used to work at Magnolia. Their cupcakes are great.
