Lunch meat question
So we have a meeting at work today and they brough in lunch. Of course sandwhiches!
is it ok if I take the meat out the sandwhich and heat it then put it back in with the bread & lettuce? Or is it bad that the meat touched everything? They aslo have salad that's been prepared already (lettuce cucumbers etc) is that ok? Or should just not eat with everyone and run out and grab something afterwards?

Lunch meat question
It depends on your comfortable level and who you ask. Some people eat lunch meat without even heating it up. Those people would say it's fine. I don't eat cold cuts without heating them up. Even then, I rarely eat them at all, so I definitely wouldn't eat the bread, lettuce, cheese that the meat touched bc i'd be concerned that any possible bacteria would have contaminated the rest of the sandwich. As you can see, I tend to be overly cautious maybe to the point of paranoid... so it just depends on your comfort level and whether you'd be anxious after eating it. I know I would be so for me, it's not worth it and i'd pass.

I agree- it really depends on you. I haven't eaten cold cuts AT ALL (even heated up) and wouldn't eat them if they touched the bread. However, there are plenty of women who eat cold cuts and have perfectly healthy babies. Like the pp said, its all about your comfort level. I'm paranoid so I just don't even bother with the moderation thing- I cut it out instead.

See, my doctor told me they were and I've read on the internet that they were a forbidden food.

Re: Lunch meat question
I got lucky...They had Grilled Chicken sandwhiches. I heated the meat up on the sandwhich and then threw out the pepper that was between the meat & bread. Hopefully that was ok?

Re: Lunch meat question
my dr said everything in moderation. I don't really like cold cuts so I have not eaten them at all.... BUT... tonight I am making reubens for dinner and can't wait. I will be heating the meat in a pan before putting in on the sandwich tho... but I do that anytime i make them anyway!

Re: Lunch meat question
With my DD, I followed my OB's advice and didn't eat cold cuts.......and it was torture for me. lol With this pregnancy, I have had a few cold cut sandwiches. I just reallllllllly wanted one and I just feel more relaxed the second time around with all these "rules" so I had my sandwich, guilt free. I figure that I have been eating cold cuts regularly for literally almost 37 years of my life and I have NEVER even once gotten sick or had an issue so what is the likelihood of anything actually happening now when I eat them??? So, I eat my ham and provolone and I enjoy every bite. (NOT heated up.........gross!!)
Truthfully, there seems to be zero consensus amongst OB's on this whole cold cut issue anyway so why not enjoy what you like in moderation? Just my feeling on it.

I ate cold cuts throughout my pregnancy... Actually had subway a few times too and all was fine. Didn't hurt me or the baby... Enjoy your sandwich!
