Lowering crib mattress

At what age or milestone did you lower the crib mattress? DS isn't sitting up on his own yet but I saw him reaching for his mobile so it got me wondering if now's the time! I realize I could also take the mobile down but he absolutely loves the thing and it helps him fall asleep so that's the last option. TIA!

We lowered our mattress once he begin standing up and it looked like he was too high above the rail.

I don't even remember. I do know that when we did drop it we just put it all the way to the bottom setting so we did n;t have to worry about it

Totally guessing but I think it was around 6 months. We just lowers it to the bottom setting. No need to do it twice.

I did it for my kids once they were sitting independently. They were both around 6 months old. I lowered it to the lowest possible setting so I wouldn't have to do it again. Makes it easier.

Re: Lowering crib mattress

Might as well do it now while you're thinking about it. We waited too long and DS1 actually fell out. He was fine, but you can bet with DS2 we lowered it much earlier!

Lowering crib mattress

The first time I lowered it, she was sitting up on her own. The second time I lowered it was when she was standing on her own. I think it was only like a month later. I probably could have just lowered it all the way the first time, but being 5'3 it's hard for me to lay her down when she's sleeping when the mattress is at the lowest setting.

This exactly. Otherwise we would've had to drop it twice about a month apart and it's just too much effort!
