lovenox

I have a quick question! I found out about my blood clotting disorder and was told i would need to be on lovenox throughout my pregnancy.

I was wondering...does anyone know when it should start? I was told with the positive HCG, but a friend of mine still miscarried with that. It worked for her when she started 2 weeks before.

Any ideas???? Thanks!

Re: lovenox

I started the day after retrieval. I am doing fine at almost 21 weeks.

ETA: when I was trying naturally(and I consulted with one of the experts in this field) I was told to start at cycle day 6

Dr. K also recently diagnosed me with antiphospholipid syndrome. I actually got the call from him the day before you! (I saw your post) I'm doing IVF, I also have endo and have never been pg. Anyway, he told me I would start Lovenox day after retrieval similar to melijane.

Did you meet with Dr. B? Maybe just confirm with Dr. K. I have read on the internet about starting it CD 6. Maybe it helps with implantation for people who have APS? Not sure....

Re: lovenox

I started Lovenox the day I got a positive HCG, from an iui, but still miscarried. After that I was told I needed to start it as soon as I ovulated. However, doing IVF this cycle I was told to start it the night of transfer. I'm still waiting for the results.

I have to tell you that all doctors don't agree on Lovenox. My RE didn't see the point of taking it so early which infuriated me. My perineonatalogist and OB were the ones that pushed the issue, which I know is the right thing.

Thanks for the answers girls! God, every dr is so different! How do we make the decisions?? I had my sister check with her dr at NYU and he said wait until you get a heartbeat. I feel like there is no definite answer.

All i know is that I do not want to beat myself up about this decision! I have to make it and hope for the best, right??

She isn't using the RE's there. She is a nurse there, her regular OB works there too. His name is Dr. Ordarico (sp?)
But I know Dr Griffo is the one who they recommend there.

why did your dr. suggest you start at O, instead of the positive? Do you know?

Re: lovenox

I started Lovenox at 8 weeks. Once we saw the hb (at 7w) my high risk ob sent me to the mfm. I got an appoinment the next week (8w) and he put me on Lovenox. My ds is almost 8 months old. I will follow the same protocol when we ttc #2. good luck Chat Icon

Re: lovenox

Just as an FYI-there are certaon docs that will start Lovenox at CD 6 namely SIRM(haveababy.com) Karacg had a successful IVF with them you may want to FM her for details. There may be other Docs some of the less conservative ones. my doc-Dr Ruman at RMANY let me start the day after retrieval. Bottom line is Lovenox is one of the safest anti coagulents on the market
