lotion for newborns

My DS is 3 weeks old and his skin is dry on his face like his forehead and around his eyes. Can I use lotion? I know basically not to put it around his eyes but I was wondering about the other areas?! If so, what kind of lotion?

Re: lotion for newborns

DS was the same way - I used Aveeno on his body and aquaphor on his face

I "loofah" it when I bathe them - I use Johnson & Johnson lotion.

Re: lotion for newborns

i always thought that i had to use some kind of lotion specifically for babies, but ds has eczema so my pediatrician recommended vaseline intensive care advanced healing lotion, which works really well. much better than baby aveeno imo. when his skin gets really dry i use eucerin cream (the kind that comes in the tub, not the lotion). it's the best, but very thick to put on so i usually just stick with the vaseline intensive care.

Johnson & Johnson has a natural lotion and a lotion stick for the face. They work great

I use acquaphor on her face every night before bed. So far no issues and her skin is really soft.
