Looking for feedback!

Hi ladies, I've done three IUI's on clomid only. Each time I have made three follicles. I go to RSofNY. I usually see Dr. Trivax but yesterday my consult was with Dr.Saketos. She said she did not advise me to do IUI with injectables bc I am producing eggs and I'd be running a risk of being pregnant with multiples due to my age. (im 29)

She suggested DH do one more SA bc the first one did not check for morphology. She said if all is well there she would suggest another IUI with 150 mg of clomid or move on to IVF. I always thought injectables was the next step with IUI. I dont feel I'm ready for IVF just yet. as of right now we are still dealing with "Unknown infertility".

All feedback and experiences are greatly appreciated!

Re: Looking for feedback!

When I first started this journey I thought we were dealing with MFI. I produced 3 eggs on clomid, so after 3 IUI's, I decided not to move to injectables just to move to IVF. I will not selective reduce, so my RE was not comfortable having me produce more then 3 follies.

Well low and behold upon further testing I find out I have pretty much non-existant AMH, so IVF is very difficult for me.

All that being said, do what you are comfortable with, and don't feel pressured into IVF. It is a huge step, and if you don't feel like they have exhausted all options on giving you a dx, then I would run all the tests first.

Good luck with whatever you decide! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I didn't go to RSofNY. I am also unexplained IF. We did 3 rounds of clomid iui, moved onto injectable iui, and then ultimately IVF. It is a big step starting with injectables. I did get pregnant my first injectable iui but had a miscarriage (unrelated) and tried several more times before moving to IVF.

What was also good was we learned what worked for my body so when I started IVF they were very clear on what protocol I would use. I was lucky and have Chat Icon Chat Icon who are now a year old from my first IVF.

So, yes if I were you I would move to injectable iui before IVF. GL!

Looking for feedback!

I go to RSofNY and am a Dr Trivax patient as well. I too started with clomid, which produced my son. This time around I did three clomids each producing only one to two follicles. I moved onto injections, as per Dr Trivax. I have produced up to 7 follicles each cycle. I am on my 6 iui with injections. Unfortunately I am not yet pregnant. I agree ivf is a big step and I am not ready also.

Re: Looking for feedback!

AMH is your ovarian reserve, and will show how you will respond to IVF meds. I basically do not respond.

I am sorry I hit submit!!
My advice would be to call and ask to speak with him and ask his advice. I too have meet with saketos and am not a big fan. I think injections woukd be the next step.
Good luck! Fm me if you have any questions..

I'm going to agree with your doctor. Injectibles is the next step for some but not if you are responding to the clomid, which you are. I had the same situation and was told the same thing as you & I got a 2nd opinion. IVF is a big deal so if you are not ready do not jump into it. discuss your other options. I think it is important your DH do another SA to test morph it may make the difference in what you decide. GL!

Looking for feedback!

I did 2 rounds of clomid & 4 rounds of femara and I produced 2-4 follicles in each round...since I produced follicles my RE was afraid that I would hyperstim with injectables since I responded to 100mg & 5mg of the pills...after 6 failed IUI's we moved onto IVF but by then I was ready...def get your AMH checked and have a 2nd semen analysis to confirm that everything is ok...injectables are not always the next step if you are responding to clomid

Re: Looking for feedback!

I did cycles with Clomid and IUI that did not work..I go to Rsofny too. I see Dr. Halfen, Dr. Stelling, and Dr. San Roman. I am doing injectables with IUI. I wonder why they told you they wouldn't do it for you? My BFF did rounds of Clomid with IUI's before moving to injectables with IUI's. There is a chance of multiple births with these drugs. Maybe request a new Dr for a second opinion?

It's very possible that injectables could help you make better quality follies, not just more. They should monitor you closely. If you were comfortable doing IUIs on clomid with 3 follies, I'm not sure why you wouldn't be comfortable doing an IUI with multiple follies on injectables. They could stim you on a very low dose to prevent you from making tons of follies.

ETA: But before any of that, I'd definitely have another SA done. I've never heard of them not checking for morphology.
