Looking for a daycare job

I'm looking to get a job at a daycare nearby so I can bring DS rather than working at night.

So.. I live in Smithtown. I'm going to look into Tutor Time (which I heard is very expensive for the child even if you work there, but I'll see) and Kindercare.

Any other ideas? Places I'm not thinking of?

I'd rather not drive too far.

Also, does anyone else do this?

TIA!

Re: Looking for a daycare job

I used to work in day care.
Honestly, I never went back...Not because I didnt like my job, I LOVED it, but, to bring DS was $$$ even with a small discount.
It worked out better for me to stay home.
My check would have went right back to the director, in order to have DS there.

One place that may be hiring (Im not sure though) is Computer Associates..Maybe they give a nice a break.

A lot of people have said that it may be expensive and kind of not worth it. I can't stay home anymore though so I need to get some kind of a job.

I looked at the Tutor Time in Commack and they had M-F 1:30-6:30.. which would maybe work out because someone could pick DS up at like 4..

How much could they really charge me for 2 1/2 hrs a day..

I think something like that would work out perfectly.

Thanks for the advice.. I'll look into CA. They have daycare there?

I know that CA has daycare for it's employees....

My girlfriend worked at Tutor Time on 347. They didnt really give her that much of a break....The one thing that they did do was allow her a little bit more flexibility..but other than that the price wasnt that much different.

I heard amazing things about the daycare at CA. The kids get all fresh foods prepared on the premises. They teach all kinds of computer skills and the classrooms are gorgeous. This is what I heard anyway.

Re: Looking for a daycare job

CA jobs are VERY hard to get, you almost always need a degree in childcare or at least 5-8 years experience in a setting to get them. I looked into them a while ago.

good luck!

Thanks. I'll look into it. It's worth a try I suppose.
