We watched and that was DH's complaint as well (he's from here originally, i'm not) and i said the same thing to him - it wouldn't be as 'entertaining' to a large audience if she wasn't a bit over the top or stereotypical
Same reason people watch Staten Island or NJ shows, right??
However, i think the bits with her family and seeing their everyday lives takes away from the overall show. I'd be much more interested if it was just focusing on her and the people who came to see her and their issues. That to me would be worth watching.
I don't want to see her bicker with her kids/dh or see any exaggerated LI over the top stuff - it detracts from the rest of the show IMO.
But, i also don't watch a ton of other 'reality' shows that are like that for the same reason..
