Long Haired Mommies [with Poll]
DH mentioned the other night, he wonders how I will look with short hair. I asked him why he was thinking about that. He said that all new Mommies cut their hair short after the baby comes! I was kind of surprised by that statement, but it does seem logical. I've had really long hair [down my back]since HS and never thought about cutting it off. I feel like it's a part of me [as silly as that sounds.] But now I am thinking that I may cut it to around mid arm length but I am really chicken.
What about you? Do you plan on cutting your hair short before or after the baby arrives?
Sorry I screwed up the other post!

Re: Long Haired Mommies [with Poll]
As I said in the other thread:
I have no intentions of cutting my hair.
Although I do know of and heard of lots of moms doing it for a matter of convenience.
For me, my hair would need to be styled whether it's long or short. No haircut would ever dry right on my head. So cutting it wouldn't make sense.

Why don't I just throw on a pair of mom jeans and a christmas sweatshirt while I'm at it!
No short hair cuts for me, it doesn't fit my face. I love my long hair and so does DH.

I won't cut my hair b/c DH loves long hair. I cut it 2x before and he wasn't that thrilled, plus I love my long hair and am not ready to give it up yet.

Re: Long Haired Mommies [with Poll]
I will not be cutting my hair..I survived long hair with a younger sister (10 yrs younger than me) and a LOT of little cousins. If I need to, I will put it up.
Babies can learn not to pull hair-may take a while, but they'll figure it is not a toy.

My hair is down to my waist, and really thick and curly..I think I am going to cut it around shoulder blade area just to make it easier for me everyday, but not short

If you cut your hair to elbow length, it will still be very long and it might be a nice change. Is your hair curly or straight? Straight hair with long layers will probably be really nice. Long curly hair is also beautiful. I have no plans to cut my hair any shorter than it is now--slightly above bra strap length.

I've kept mine long after both of my other babies, so I am definitely not cutting it after this one!

Re: Long Haired Mommies [with Poll]
I donated my hair in December of 2006 (cut off 13 inches) and am in the process of growing it back to donate it again. I don't know if it will coincide with the baby so I selected No but I guess it would be "other" really.
It was such an amazing feeling donating and knowing that I was helping a little girl who couldn't have hair of her own. I highly recommend thinking about it!

My hair is wavy and all one length. To be honest... it has no style whatsoever. I wake up at 4am for work so the thought of 'doing' my hair that early in the morning is just not gonna happen- hence why I have styleless hair! I was thinking of cutting it to about bra strap length... I've had layers once and hated it since I have to keep my hair up for my job. Mmmm maybe long layers will work!! I don't know!!

Long layers will definitely work! i would cut it to elbow length and see how you like it, then take it up from there. I am a huge fan of very long hair though. I wish my hair was thicker.

Re: Long Haired Mommies [with Poll]
I just cut three inches off my hair this week and now I feel I am at the right length (alitte longer than shoulder length).. I just throw my hair in a ponytail anyway so it isn't like it is high maintaince.

Re: Long Haired Mommies [with Poll]
“Other”
It depends I have long hair now and I’ve been growing it out. Before that I had it cut in a long short cut (if that makes sense) just above my collar bone. I like that my hair has a natural ‘flip’ when it’s cut that length.
I grew it out because I love pony tails and pulling my hair away.
I could go either way. If I find my hair to be a hassle then I’ll cut it back to the cut I used to have. If not, I’ll leave it alone.

Re: Long Haired Mommies [with Poll]
I ended up cutting my hair in the first trimester of my pregnancy... I was sooooo sick all of the time and also extremely tired . My hair was almost to my waist at that point and it's very thick. I blow my hair straight because of a natural wave and it takes forever!! So I ended up cutting it to a little bit longer then my shoulders.
My hair dresser was so happy... she's like you're over your love affair with your long hair. Needless to say I don't really love it and I definitely think DH likes it better longer too. I am now in the process of growing it back... not to the length it was but somewhere in between. I think short haircuts look great on certain people and I'm always envious when I see someone with a really cool short cut but everytime I do it on myself I'm like um yeah no!

Why are all hair stylists so cut happy? Mine is always trying to get me to cut mine off!

Re: Long Haired Mommies [with Poll]
It really depends. My hair is insanely curly, like to the point where DH and I were on vacation in the Caribbean and he said to me, you really need to do something about your hair, since I wear it straight all the time, but when we went away I didn't bother, and DH never comments on my curly hair ever, he knows its a sore spot with me (I had traumatic experiences when I was younger)
My hair is totally my crutch. I get it straightened now and was actually thinking of doing the katie holmes cut on me, BUT....i love playing with my hair and doing fun things to it, so I really dont know if I'm going to cut it short unless I want to not leave my house with the baby until it grows out...

Yeah, I'm not really sure what that is about either? They must get a kick out of cutting off a decent amount of hair.

Re: Long Haired Mommies [with Poll]
my DS is almost 9 months and i havent cut it yet, but plan to in the next few months. I donate to locks of love and wanted to be able to give 12-14 inches, so i waited. It doesnt really have anything to do with having a baby, its the donation- and yes, it will be aroud chin length when i chop it.
