We are in the process of contacting contractors for estiamtes on having central air installed in our house. We received a letter from LIPA stating we could be eligible for "up to" a $1000 rebate, if we use a LIPA approved contractor. The guy that came today is from one of the approved contractors and told DH that "its not really worth it" because LIPA has to come in to inspect your house, see if the windows are drafty, etc. Anyone know anything about this program, what it entails and what kind of rebate you "really" get?
