LIPA bill—do you have estimated or actual?
We had to sign up with LIPA today and they asked if we wanted an estimated bill or an actual bill. Which is the better way to go and why?

Ours too. Although, I think this coming month's estimated is going to be way off.... As of last night, we were roughly -30kWhs for the month....

We went to balanceding billing. a Budget basically.
I was tired of getting a $500 bill and then getting at $50 bill!!
Now we pay $146 every month. much more manageble and now we can budget better.

I don't think they ever asked me, but I just checked my bill and it is the actual reading, and we are billed every other month.

Balanced billing. When we bought the house, we kept the balanced billing at what the previous owners were paying. They told us they would adjust it if it was really off. We were paying $119 a month, they just adjusted it bc we don't come close to using that much. It is now $98, and that is still double of what we use.

Just went through this with LIPA...They actually ONLY check meters every other month. So everyone really only gets one actual and then one estimate every other month (or so the person on the phone told me).

We are on the budget billing too! It's better for us knowing that the bill is a set bill every month. Only thing is if you use more than "estimated" they do tack additional monies owed at the end of the cycle/year.

That's what I was told also. So yeah you might pay more on your estimated month but then it will even out the next month with your actual reading.
