LIPA
What is iyour average LIPA bill for a month? I have a small - average cape and we got our first LIPA bill. It was so much money. Reading the bill - it's almost like they double charge you.........It was rediculous.

Re: LIPA
on budget billing we pay $273 a month for a 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo. I swear it would be less but for the 2nd floor to be cool enough for sleeping, the CAC has to be pretty low.

haven't gotten our first A/C bill yet. Scared but I'm expecting something like $300-$400 since we used AC a lot.

I'd have them come and check out the meter. That sounds extremely high, especially, if you work (don't know if you do) and you're not home during the day. I am on balanced billing and pay $125.00 per month.

Re: LIPA
If I remeber correctly we paid a huge LIPA bill our first month and then it leveled out and we actually had a credit for a few months...hope thats the case.
We are on a balanced each month...$105. Not bad.

That can't be right - call them and talk to them - even if you left everything on for 2 months - I can't see it being that high

Re: LIPA
We have a cape - the last bill was under $50 although this next one should be higher since we are running the ACs. I would suggest that you have your meter read. We were getting billed at an estimate (based on the previous owners even though we said we didn't want that) and it was double or triple what we are now paying. We had them do an actual and had a huge credit. Same with Keyspan

Did you move one LIPA account to your new house? Is it possible this is the last meter read on your previous apartment / house PLUS the new bill at the new place?
I know when I moved out of LB, they hadn't read the meter in a while and my final LIPA bill was about $600 because they hadn't read the meter in so long.

Re: LIPA
We have balanced billing and it just went down from $92-$81/month for the last 2 months. They still owe us money so hopefully it will not go back up. I have a 3 bedroom, 1 bath ranch.

Thank you to everyone - It doesn't sound right to me either. We don't have CAC and we didn't move an account from another address. I was and am flabercasted. I'm definately going to call today. Seeing what you guys pay - there is no way. We leave at 7 am and get home at 7 pm. If anything we had one AC on low but still...............

Had they not read the meter in a long time? That would stink if they were underetimating your bill by that much for so long... What were your previous bills like?
