Re: Life insurance
I have a small policy through my employer (it costs pennies per paycheck) and then I have a more substantial policy through Prudential.
ETA: My husband took care of it. He is in finance and has his life insurance license, even though that's not what he does, so I left it up to him to get.

No, I am a SAHM and I have a ton of life insurance because if something happens to me, my husband would like to stop working and stay home with the kids. However, my policy was going into effect before his and so I was going to be way more insured than him. I remember them making me sign something stating I was aware that my husband was taking out large policies on me. I guess they do that so people can't take out huge policies on their spouse and then have them killed for the life insurance!

Thanks
I been researching how do you know rates?
The rates that you get depend on a number of factors including a medical exam that the insurance company performs, a telephone survey, as well as age and other factors. Once you complete the screening they will tell you what rates you qualify for. I think that the only way to find out is to go thru the whole process.

Contact whoever holds your auto and/or home owners. You may be able to bundle products and save a little money.

One thing. In general stay away from whole life insurance. It has a bad rate of return and just not worth it. You can invest the money by yourself and make more than investing in whole life.
Term is really the way to go. Its fora term. 20-30-40 years? Not your whole life.

I would look into getting an individual life policy for your husband but also look into the price of increasing coverage given through his employer or your employer. That coverage isn't underwritten but, it's guaranteed coverage for anyone, regardless of health condition. It's generally more expensive for someone who doesn't have any underlying health conditions but, it's a good option if you do have underlying health conditions.
