Life Insurance / Will
Just wondeing how many of you organised mommies have both or one of these in place...
I have been thinking about doing it but thats as far as I have gotten...
Is it expensive?

we have life insurance (got policies for the both of us when we bought our house), and have discussed wills, but haven't made them up yet.

Life insurance policies are in the process of being increased but we won't have them take effect for a few months.
We have a will and will ammend it as soon as the babies arrive.
My will is discounted through my union.
We already have an umbrella insurance policy for house, cars etc. so we will just add to that.
As someone whose mom (SAHM) died when I was eight, it's more expensive NOT having them. Unfortunately, you never know.

Please, please, please do a will as soon as possible. Even if it's one you buy at Staples. It's so very important to have a will that states where you want your children to go, god forbid, anything happens. If you don't have a will, the courts will decide for you!

Thanks..I actually called an estate lawyer and an insurance agent today....so will get the ball rolling...I just have to get hubbie on board now as he is not someone who thinks about the future and I am ....

I've always had life insurance, but increased my policy before the baby was born. DH got a policy when I was pg.
we don't have a will yet, but thanks for reminding me- I have to get on this asap!!

I was told to do an estate not a will. With a will there is a potential for the terms to be contested. Anyone have an estate lawyer they recommend?

we have had both since we bought our home and then updates our will when my daughter was born, the kids and $ go to my parents with some $ for my ILs too!!!

We have wills, life insurance and are going soon to see our lawyer for living wills and health care proxies.
ETA: We're also meeting with a financial advisor soon to set up an estate.

We have both, and increased our life insurance policies after we had our second child. We also have living wills and health care proxies, which I think are also very important. If you don't have one, it puts your family in a very difficult position. Even if they know what you want, they can't necessarily follow through with it. Something to consider..
