Life after BCP...

Hi everyone:
So I know it's common to have a long cycle after coming off BCP. This is my first month off, and I'm now on cd32 with no AF in sight (although I was very crampy last week). BFN yesterday morning (tested just in case!).
For those who went through something similar, how long did you wait before calling the dr? I just want her to come so I can start to know my cycle. Chat Icon

Thanks!

Re: Life after BCP...

It could take a while for AF to come after BCP. I know for me my first cycle was about 42 days, 2nd cycle was like 40 and then they actually got longer after that.
It's different for me b/c I have PCOS but i know most girls on here had really long cycles the first few months in BCP

I'd give it some more timeChat Icon

I totally know how you feel! My first cycle off BCP was 52 days Chat Icon The best thing for you to do is relax (which is easier said than done) because stress can affect your cycles. I probably would have had a very long second cycle, but I got my BFP on CD 51!! Hang in there!! It will happen!!

Congrats!!!!!! Chat Icon And thanks! May I ask...if you got your BFP on CD51 how did the dr. determine your due date? That's my concern now...that if I do get pregnant this first month off bcp-how will they know when the baby was conceived since I have no idea when I may have ovulated (I'm not doing opks or anything yet).
ETA-we're not specifically "trying" yet b/c I wanted to learn my cycle. But we're also not-not trying. lol.

This is my first cycle after BCP. I just got AF on CD 49!
I was getting nervous (although kept reading that it could at least 3 months) because I didn't have any real symptoms that it was coming....although, I did have EWCM two weeks before. Anyway, I woke up with AF on Tuesday.
So don't stress, it'll come!
I'm in the same boat as you. We're not really trying yet as I'm also trying to figure out my cycles.

i hope that's true for you!

I just found out I was preggers this week, so I have not even been to the doctor yet! I kept a calendar of when we BD and any symptoms I had, so I think I narrowed down when we conceived and my EDD is March 1, 2010! I am going to get bloodwork done tomorrow. The doctor should I be able to give me a EDD after my first sonogram Chat Icon

Funny, I actually got my BFP on CD 51 too, but it was many cycles after stopping BCP. My cycles were totally irregular - and I had a few that were 60 days. My OB dated the pregnancy at my first ultrasound where you could actually see something.

I have had regular cycles coming off of BC *knock on wood!* and according to my temps, I have been ovulating. Maybe do your temp charts to see when you ovulate so you can make the best of the long cycles. Just because they're long doesn't mean you can't get knocked up!

i think it was about 2 weeks before my bfp because i was feeling sorta funny and had been testing every few days; also, that would've made sense with when we bd'd - we were not bd'ing very frequently at that point in my cycle so that helped me pinpoint when we must've conceived.
