LI IVF - Dr. Brenner
So I made my first appointment with an RE today
We can't get in there for a few weeks, but that is fine - our schedules are tricky.
Does anyone have any feedback on Dr. Brenner at LI IVF? The woman on the phone told me that was who I would be meeting with
I'm very excited.

That's the practice I go to. I don't see Dr. Brenner but I've been happy with them. The staff is great there! Good luck!

Re: LI IVF - Dr. Brenner
I'm crashing because I used to see Dr. Brenner. I wasn't a fan of her because I feel like she has a very poor bedside manner, she didnt even look at me when we were talking during my appointment. My friend used to go to her too (she recently moved OOS), she said the same thing about the bedside manner.
However Dr. Brenner delivered her DS and she had a very good experience with that. I switched practices completely to SB Midwives which is the main reason I left her practice.

Re: LI IVF - Dr. Brenner
I think Dr. Brenner did my transfer and I know I met him a few other times even though I saw another dr there.
He was very nice and explained what was going to happen.
I really liked LI-IVF in general. It was very convenint for people who have to get to work early----they open at 6:30am for monitoring. Also, their voicemail system is great. You basically just call and check your voicemail around 4pm any day that you go there, and they leave you a message to let you know what the next step is. That is certainly better than desperately waiting for a phone call!
GL w/ your 1st appt!

Dr. BRenner is a man. You are talking about a different RE. I started off with a good experience, but then he scared the you know what out of me by saying I had less than 10% chance of having a kid based on one test. He ran a second test and days later told me that the second test suggested i would be fine.
Talk about speaking before you know all of your facts.

Re: LI IVF - Dr. Brenner
I saw Dr. Brenner too. He was recommended to me by one of my best friends who had seen him for IUI's and ultimately a successful IVF. She described him to me as NOT being "warm and fuzzy" but he knows his stuff.
I couldn't agree more. He is very straightforward and professional. He isn't very personal. BUT, he knows what he is talking about and he is very thorough and efficient. I left my consult with him feeling confident that I was in good hands no matter where my road led me.
We really couldn't determine what the problem was for us - all of our tests came back fine. DH had a slightly low morphology so that was the only thing we could attribute our struggle to. Dr. Brenner suggested going for a medicated cycle on clomid and doing an IUI. When I felt that we were moving too fast (especially since I didn't really need clomid), and that I really wanted to know "what" was wrong, he was honest and said that I could very well wait it out if I wanted to, but to realize that we might not ever find any one answer and my choices were to keep trying the way I was, or to move forward with monitoring, clomid and an IUI. I told him I wanted to wait another cycle or 2, he wished me good luck and only 1 cycle later, I was back in his office, started clomid, did my IUI and got my BFP 2 weeks later .
I guess the point I am trying to make is that if you are looking for an RE to rub your back and stroke your hair while you tearfully vent your frustrations, he is not your man. But, I have no complaints whatsoever about him or any of the nurses, staff, etc at LI IVF. I had my monitoring done at Melville, and all procedures done in Great Neck and both places made me feel very comfortable. When DH and I first saw our little nuggets heartbeat at 6 weeks on the ultra sound, I broke down in tears, and the nurse who had only met me twice, was crying too.
Which brings me to one other thing - I found that once we had achieved our goal - a healthy and viable pregnancy - Dr. Brenner sort of changed his disposition towards us. Up until that point he was so formal, matter of fact and to-the-point. Once we saw the heartbeat and I had composed myself, he pulled up a stool, sat right in front of me and with a big smile he congratulated me and it was almost as if he had exhaled with me after all that time - kwim???
Anyhow, I know I just rambled, but I wanted to share my experience with you as personallhy as I could. Best of luck to you no matter which RE you decide to go with. Make sure that whoever it is, you are comfortable with him/her and that you are free to ask any and all questions.

Re: LI IVF - Dr. Brenner
Dr. Brenner was my RE. I agree with pp that he is not a warm a fuzzy type but he is consistently rated as one of the top RE's on LI. Long story short, I have a 20 month old DD from my first IVF with Dr. Brenner.
