LI Home Show at the Coliseum....
anyone ever go? is it just picking up brochures, or do you talk w/ vendors in detail? what type of companies are there?
We're considering extending the dormers on our 2nd floor, curious what kind of vendors we'll find at the home show....hoping I can convince DH to go w/ me b/c otherwise I know they'll probably talk to me like I'm a complete idiot! lol

Re: LI Home Show at the Coliseum....
I've gone to one at Stony Brook, and thinking of going to the one this weekend.

There are vendors of all types. There are reps from the companies, and usually props or examples of their products. Gutter guard companies have a little roof section, with water running down. Door companies have several doors set up. Hot tub companies have one of their tubs running, etc.
That's where I found my solar panel installer.
There are often discounts given at the show.

Re: LI Home Show at the Coliseum....
We've gone to the one in Suffolk and went once to the one in Nassau. The Suffolk show is a little smaller than Nassau but we were so annoyed at getting nickeled and dimed to death at the Nassau show we never wanted to go back. They advertised one price for entry with a $2 discount coupon, but then they added on Nassau entertainment tax, overpriced parking fees, etc. so what should have cost about $12 ended up costing us over $25 for the prieledge of having everyone try to sell us their services. Suffolk is free parking, no tagged on fees, just the advertised ticket price with discounts available. We've found some good info at the shows (like our alarm company) and it's a good way to talk to some people to get general info but the variety is not as extensive as I'd like to see.
