Level II scan - questions - update
i had my level II scan at 21 wks last thursday. it was LONg...the technician must have taken about 45 minutes just looking and measuring different part of the baby.
results...
- partial placenta previa - dr told me not to worry bc there are chances that the placenta might move. i'm scared of birth... but I also wasnt considering a csection. if the placenta is still laying low, we might need to schedule the csection.. anything to make sure baby girl is ok.
- echogenic focus - white spot on baby's heart. i dont know how to exactly feel about this. The dr told us not to worry and that everything else measured fine. but it's so hard not to. i've gone thru many emotions these past few days. we're going back on thursday for a "Self dna test?" i'm not sure if this is the right name... honestly i was crying when the dr was explaining the findings. it's pretty much a blood test on me, that will check any possibilities for abnormalities.
trying to stay positive and happy.... but it's so hard not to worry
UPDATE - went to DR this morning to discuss the tests further. Def more reassuring to speak face to face than over the phone. She explained how the placenta can and might move. We went over all of the testing that was done before and everything was good, no signs to worry about. She explained how the low marker in the heart might go away, but we still decided to do the blood test today..now we just wait 2 weeks for results.
anyway.. staying positive and happy!!!

Re: Level II scan - questions
Big !!!!! My baby has the calcification on the heart too. I spoke to a genetic counselor who totally put my mind at ease. Our chances of the baby having downs is 1:45000 and that was after they found the calcification. Before it our odds were 1:99000. We felt confident in the number so decided not to do any further testing. My friends son had the same thing and her baby was born perfectly healthy. How were your nt scan results? I know it's easier said then done, but try not to worry. I'm sure your baby is just fine!

Re: Level II scan - questions
At our 12 week ultra sound we had a 1:11 risk of downs. They did every genetic test possible after I had a CVS. All were negative. At our level 2 she had a calsification on the heart. The heart specialist at Stony Brook was not concerned and said they see it a lot and it turns out to be nothing a lot.
for your little girl. The test they will do on you is probably Maternity21 takes about 10-14 days to get results (I had that too)

Re: Level II scan - questions - update
They found one soft marker on my son's head so of course I was a disaster after the appointment but they are very common and do wind up going away on their own. When I went back for a follow up U/S the next week (b/c they couldn't finish the anatomy scan the week before due to someone not cooperating lol), the doctor who reviewed my scan results then told me that had he been the doctor reviewing the scan from the week before, he most likely would not have mentioned the soft marker since there was only one and everything else on the scan was completely normal but different doctors practice differently and the other doctor disclosed the information b/c that's how she practices.
