Let's talk teething please!

So DD is 3 months old and she definitely has something going on in there... hands constantly in mouth, drooling, crying like she is in pain and then biting on her finger...biting on my fingers.

I know teeth may not emerge for quite some time but teething can start now anyway.

So what does this mean? Is she going to be cranky and miserable and uncomortable all the time now until that tooth cuts through?

And then again like this for each tooth?

I just can't bear to see her so uncomfy and miserable.

Please tell me it's only a few days at a time before they start to feel better....

I just don't get how this whole thing works!

My DD is four months and has been doing the same thing for about a month. I think it gets worse when she is tired. I bought a teething toy and that seems to help. I'm not even sure if it's teething at this point...probably won't know until that first tooth makes its appearance. I can't really answer your questions, but I wanted to let you know that I feel your pain.

That's around the time my son started teething too. He's now 8 months and just cut his first tooth lat week. I was afraid, too, that since he started so early, he would be miserable and in pain until it cut through. But I found it came and went in waves. He would have a couple days where he'd have trouble falling sleep, and he seemed a little irritable and was drooling a lot, hands in the mouth, etc., then he'd be fine for a few weeks. He has only cut one tooth, so I can't say from experience, but I have heard that the first tooth is the first tooth and the molars are the only really bad ones. After the first tooth, they know what to expect of the pain and it's a quicker process. GL!

DS has been the same way since he turned 3 months (he is almost 4 months now). He tries to bite down on my hands all the time and when he does he cries even more. I try to keep him distracted when he gets like that and it helps. I also sometimes give him a textured kitchen towel to chew on...he loves it! still no signs of teeth here (although DH said last night he felt ridges on his gums) but it's only a matter of time. I read a few places that teething can start 2 months before a tooth cuts through.

We had serious chewing biting drooling, since 3m. It lasted 3 months. Some days were horrible, some weeks were horrible, some weren't, somehow we got used to it, and now at 6.5m the tooth broke through and he's a the peak of crankiness.

Glad I came upon this post. DD2 is 10 1/2 weeks old but has been extremely cranky the last week. She chews on her hand, screams, and drools like crazy!! At first I thought it might be an ear infection, but she isnt like this all day long....just comes in bursts. I dont remember DD1 EVER being like this....even when she did cut her teeth. But DD2 is the complete opposite in every way from DD1...plus its been 5 years and its amazing how much i've forgotten about babies.....
I have an appointment with the pedi next week so guess i'll bring this up....

DS started to teeth at 8 weeks old. Had to take him to the dr because I thought he had an ear infection. His gums were swollen and he was drooling. His hands or mine were always in his mouth. His first tooth finally came in at 6 months. He is now 11 months old and only has 2 teeth. He has been in teething he!! since...

My kids both started teething at 2 mos They'd both drool and gnaw on their hand but I'd give them teething tablets once in a while and they'd be OK. DS first tooth didnt cut until 5 mos. I could see white on DD at 3 mos. I havent seen the full blown tooth yet, just a hugely swollen gum but ped still swears it's a "cyst or a blister" but I'll be a monkey's uncle if that's not a tooth that she's been grabbing at for 2 mos!

Anyway, Hyland's teething tablets work wonders! I'd get those. It might not be that bad
