Let's talk Swingsets

We were looking at the Costco one today but really think we would want a "Trex" material swingset. Is there such a thing?
Does anyone have one?
Where do you get that kind of set?

Also if you have to Costco one how is it? I'm worried about fading, splinters, etc.

Thanks!

Is that a brand? Nothing comes up on Google.

Maybe Kettler?
We want bigger than that. Something that has the play house too.

Re: Let's talk Swingsets

My husband built the swingset/fort for the boys.. it's only 3 years in but I gotta say it's holding up fantastic. We wanted to buy one at Costco.. but it was way too much money for us to justify.

My girlfriend DOES have the Costco set and it is fantastic.

How is the wood?
Do the restain it every year? I can't deal with faded wood. Pet peeve of mine.

I found some nice vinyl ones but they are well over $2K. Not what we had planned on spending.

Re: Let's talk Swingsets

So, is the Costco one wood? I have to get started on looking for a swingset. I wish I had a swing for him last summer and now I'd like a bit more than that. (ETA: My husband is very handy so if anyone can show me any that they designed and built themselves, we want to see. I think he would prefer a TREX type material. He built our deck and I am amazed by it).

My sister has the Costco set - It's great.

I have the wood one from Creative Playthings - Great too.

I'm not sure if they have a Wood Kingdom or something like that by you, but they sell PVC playsets.

Re: Let's talk Swingsets

We have the Coctco one from two years ago. I believe Rainbow actually manufactures the set exclusively for Costco. It's an excellent set and we have no issues with it.

We thought DH and FIL would put it together but it ended up being too much for them. We had to pay someone (who does this for a living) and it took him and 2 workers a full day to put the set together. They knew what they were doing but it's just very time consuming.

Might be worth it Jen. We bought a wood one from Wood Kingdom with steel reinforcement so it could support more weight-- IE me and it was $1700 and it's wood

My GF's is only 2 years old.. but the wood is still that bright orange-ish color. I'll see if I can dig up a picture. I would have said it isn't wood because it looks so good - BUT she had a huge issue with carpenter bees boring into it at one point.. so I think that means it is wood.

(The set WE have is very dark - my husband stained it a dark color .. but it's gotten MUCH darker.)

Re: Let's talk Swingsets

The wod sets are pressure treated wood so they shouldnt splinter. As for having to restain it, you may need to do that every couple of years depending on how bad the weather we have is.

Re: Let's talk Swingsets

I think with the wood sets all you have to do is seal it every so often. They should hold up fine.
