I used the Medela Pump in Style Advanced for my first child and think it's great! I spoke to a few people and it was all the rave.
I also used the avent isis handpump in the beginning. While slow (hand pump) it was a great learning tool.

I used the Avent Isis Manual one with my daughter and while it took a little longer to pump, I got a lot of BM! But, the bottles tend to leak every now and then. And there was this little piece inside the pump that always popped out of place, and I would have to stop and take the thing apart and replace it. I guess for the price though it wasnt bad!

I got the Medela Pump In Style when I had my first child. I did a lot of research on it and it was highly recommended by other mothers. But I can't speak to it personally since I did't get a chance to use it because I had complications and had difficulty breastfeeding.
