Lets Talk Bottles.....

What are you guys using??
I am using the Avent....Matthew seems fine with them, but Christopher sucks at them...it sounds like he is puckinering and giving a kiss......I think he is getting too much air.

I am using Dr. Browns. I like them and the boys while they have gas, it does not seem too discomforting to them.

Jack smacks his lips when you pull the bottle away from him...don't know if that is the same thing Christopher does for you. I just assumed he thinks the formula is "lip smacking good". Chat Icon

Re: Lets Talk Bottles.....

I think I may try the Dr, Browns bottles, just to see if that is it...and maybe he is getting too much air.

Some times they seem like they are not eating enough. Last night they wanted to eat every hour and a half??
So i would give them an extra half an ounze

We've always used the playtex bottles. We use the disposable drop in liners, I find they get less gas bubbles with them.

Dr. Browns has a small kit. Maybe get that to see if you like them and then get the bigger one??

SOunds like you should up their ounces. My boys are up to 4 1/2 ounces and they are less then a month. I have been following what they tell me.

Re: Lets Talk Bottles.....

I am using Avent... no complaints as of yet. My boys are up to about 3 1/2 oz... but considering they left the hospital eating less than 2 oz, we've come a long way in a short time. I just follow their cues - if they are waking up too often, I increase the following day.

Are you feeding one at a time? Just wondering if you have tried the Podee hands free or the milk maid.

I have heard that Plaxtex and Dr. Browns are great for preventing gas and spitting up.

I plan to try them out once the boys are a full month. Right now, they have trouble keeping their pacifier in their mouths... they either spit it out or grab it. I don't think the Podee would work for us right now. Once I can use them, it will be a whole new world when it comes to feedings!

Re: Lets Talk Bottles.....

I use Dr Browns bottles for Sydney and Avent for Reese..both work fine. Syd was getting to much air so i swithed her to the Dr Brown and she seemed a lot less pissy.

I used Dr Browns since they were spitting up too much with the Avent.

They have 2 differetn sizes, the long and skinny and the short and fat bottles so you can get each one a different one.

Also if they seem like they are sucking alot and not getting that much, they may need to go up a size in the nipple. My boys would tire themselves out trying to get thte milk out that they would eat 1/2 of the bottle and then fall aslpee since it took them so much effort.

They also have them at BRUs if that's more convenient...
