Let's talk about...Charlie Horses

What is your experience with being pregnant and having them?

I get at least 2 or 3 a night and they are so painful. No matter how I sleep, they still awake me several times during the night.

I try elevating my legs, putting a pillow in between, but I still have not found a remedy.

Anyone else in a similar situation?

They hurt so bad that it takes almost the whole next day for my leg to feel better and not be sore, only to get another one that night! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Who knows if this actually works, but I heard if you eat a banana before bed, that it will help with charlie horses. I guess it couldn't hurt to try!

drink lots of water and eat bananas-they come from dehydration/potassium deficiency. If I get one the best thing is to stand on it immediately. I had one recently that I couldnt even flex my foot, it was that strong. After that, I just get right up and stand on it.

I agree.
I try to eat one banana every day (my new favorite breakfast is two pieces of whole wheat toast w. cashew butter and sliced banana.. i know it's werid but it's really good).

also- try to make sure you don't point your toes when you sleep.

I agree! A banana a day keeps the charlie horses away!!! and stay hydrated!!

Dina I love peanut butter and banana sandwiches. YUM!! or bananas sliced up in yogurt or cereal.

I only got it once Thank God, but it was painful! But I've heard too to drink a lot of water. The bananas part I never heard of but it sounds interesting...
