Re: Lets discuss the NY Mets...
to answer the first question, i say pelfrey.
Youth is what is going to drive the future. Duque has a history of early injuries, so if you start him, and he gets hurt in May - you then risk bringing in Pelfrey, and him not producing. Now you're in July/August - and you have to scramble for a 5th starter as the playoff push begins.
If you start Pelfrey in the onset, and find out he's not cutting it, it's early enough to make adjustments. You can bring in Duque and his experience for the playoff push, or you can look to make a trade before the deadline.
Regarding Pedro, I don't think they have a choice, sadly. I don't think he's all that - he gets hurt alot, and he only gives you 5-6 innings. But, it's a solid 5-6 innings, which is a nice second behind Santana. However, in most Pedro games, it then becomes whether or not the bullpen can hold a lead. Hopefully, Sanchez can get his stuff back and be the number 2 behind Wagner.
I think the question is not whether he gets one, but what kind he gets - I wouldn;t extend him more than 1-2 years.

Re: Lets discuss the NY Mets...
yea i would go with Pelfrey also... he needs to be in the starting rotation from the beginning.. he got thrown around alot last season.. however.. with el duque.. he does have the experience.. but the injuries are just too much..
sooo .. i am assuming they would go with pelfrey.. its the right choice!
and with pedro.. im sure if they did sign him it would only be for another year.. 2 yrs tops.. we need to see how he does this year... im soooo hoping he will be great again! but he was out for a long time.

From what I've read in the paper yesterday they are planning on keeping Pelfry in the minors and are going to most likely use him after the all star break. Of course this is just their plan and things could change if El Dugue's health changes.
yup.. i saw that too! i am not sure if i like this decision..but pelfrey seems to be very mature about the decision!
on a side note did you see that Shawn Greene retired.. i actually liked him
