Re: Leslie
Well I got one! Sort of.
Dr. Rosenfeld asked me how my recovery went and I said I felt great. He looked at my belly button and took out the hysteroscopy stitch as well. He showed me a video from my procedure. I got to see all of my "girly parts" from the inside. My ovaries, tubes and uterus are in fabulous shape(if you can call them that). The dye went right through my tubes. The surgeries found nothing but confirmed a small fibroid (which Dr. R said was irrelevant to my fertility issues). My CD3 bloodwork came back fine as well - no concerns.
I also showed the doctor my chart(s) which he said were pretty much on the money. Based on that, he estimated when he expects my ovulation date to come next week. He said if I do not get a surge on an OPK by next Wednesday, to come in for a sonogram that morning so I made an appointment which I may end up cancelling. He told me to start OPKs on Day 12 and call when I get my surge for IUIs. DH can drop off his sample and I can get the IUI's later in the day if our schedules do not mesh well that day/morning.
His only concern was still my cervix. I asked him if it would close up and he said we would have to wait and see but based on everything else, it looks good and promising. But because of my cervical issue, IUI is really the only way to go for us at this point. It will increase our chances.
He was very warm and again, it was hard for me to process all of the information. I felt like a deer in headlights. DH wasn't able to come to the appointment with me this time, so I had to pay even closer attention. The bottom line is that we can get started next week and barring any narrowing of my cervix again, we should be good. There are no guarantees, and at my age it may take longer than someone younger but that is par for the course even through natural means. I asked how many cycles we do this, and was told 6. Im still nervous and will continue to be until i get a BFP. Not sure what kind of vibes to ask for. Maybe "keep my cervix open vibes???"
Thanks again for asking and for the support. Im ready to move with this!

Re: Leslie
I want it to be great news but I cant help but think I wont stay open enough for an IUI. I hope to G-d I can because I would not want another surgery. The doctor seemed pretty postive, but its hard for me right now to think that dilating my cervix might not have worked. I am flip-flopping here - bear with me.

Re: Leslie
Can someone tell me why that with good news, I tend to focus on what could be negative? Does anyone else get like this?
Today I was walking around as if I was second guessing everything and I almost feel like I am back at square one. I mean my gut told me that behind my cervix, everything was in working order, yet here I am still dealing with what could be an issue all over again. All of the questions I have are in hindsight and I couldnt think to ask when I was there.
Even if I DID ask, I still don't always get it. I am sort of embarrassed that I don't. Either DH or I will call back tomorrow with all of the questions we both have. He tends to be more calm and can process information of this kind better than I can. What is interesting, is that I often play this role when i take my own mother to all of HER medical appointments. I suppose it is an entirely different ballgame when it is yourself and your own health. I wish I could be stronger and happy. I really want to be. Sometimes it is hard. Sorry to whine. ITs been that kind of day.

Re: Leslie
I always focused on the negative. Even the first month that I finally ovulated (after years of not ovulating) I looked at all the bad things. Maybe it was a rotten egg, maybe DH's sperm wouldn't know what to do with it because they'd never seen it before, maybe I should stop swimming because I don't want to flush anything out, did my chemo screw up the rest of my body?!?! The doctors worked so hard on me ovulating that I was concerned we overlooked the rest of my system.
Needless to say, you are not alone.
