Leaving your 3-4 week old at home for an overnight trip??
Would you do this? My DH and I are not seeing eye to eye on this. My SD graduates high school Mid-May, I'm due Mid April. I would love to be a part of her day, but I can't imagine that I will want to leave my baby girl, even if it will only be for a day. What would you do? I mentioned to DH, that he could always go, he didn't get mad, but moreso a little hurt. Any ideas/input?

Your DH will probably change his mind once he sees how tiny a 4 week old baby is lol. To answer your question, no, I would not leave a baby that young even for a night. Why can't you bring the baby with you?

My son will be 3 weeks Monday. I EBF so we haven't given him a bottle yet. So for us, i would not be able to leave him overnight. If we were bottlefeeding, not sure I'd leave him either. A few hours yes. But not overnight. I would also suggest DH go on his own and you stay to care for the baby

I wouldn't. I don't think I'd even be thrilled for him to go and leave me alone for the night although I would suck it up and encourage him to go without you.

Thanks for the input. If able, I would love to EBF, so that is an added concern to leaving her.
Not sure if I would feel comfortable traveling with such a tiny baby, first timer here, so extra paranoid. I also should have mentioned that she is in Florida, so we would ahve to get on a plane.
Not sure how this is going to work out, but I just wanted to make sure that I was not being unreasonable in not wanting to go.

Definitely not. A baby that age being exposed to that many germs on a plane would be my main reason. She wont have any shots at that age except possibly Hep b. If you didnt have to travel by plane I might consider it but even then I would still be leaning towards no.

Definitely no commercial airline travel at this age!!! I guarantee your ped will say this is a no-no and then your decision will be made for you.

Oh God no, there is no way in heck I would go if I had to bring a 4 week old on a germ filled plane!! I also would not feel comfortable leaving the state. It is a shame that you would miss her graduation but I am sure she would understand.

I definitely agree, I will not risk getting on a plane with her. I just don't feel comfortable leaving her so soon. I am sure my SD will understand, so I think my husband and I need to come to an agreement on this, but as of right now I am leaning towards not going.

Not a chance. I'd be fine for him to go without me, of course he shouldn't miss his dd graduate highschool, but I would not entertain the thought of going along.

I'm not a mom, but this sounds tough to do. Maybe plan a trip at the end of the summer to go visit her before she goes to school to make up for you and the baby not being there.

Re: Leaving your 3-4 week old at home for an overnight trip??
I personally wouldn't but that's just me. Heck, my DD is 4 and I still haven't gone anywhere without her..........I am not ready. lol
Aside from that, 4 weeks after giving birth I really wouldn't have felt up to going away anywhere. My body still felt funny, I was still recovering, and of course I was completely exhausted. The first few weeks are an adjustment, I wouldn't have wanted to commit to anything at that time.
