Leather or Microfiber?
So i have a dog who i allow on my couch. DH says hes part of the family and that hes allowed. Anywhooooo....
For our den, I wanted new couches but love microfiber but told leather is best way to go, esp with the dog and well, my DD.
Isnt there a scotchguard for microfiber?
i think i have to give into leather

Re: Leather or Microfiber?
my sister has microfiber with the stain gaurd- she split a full can of coke- and it sat on top - worked great
but I would be more concerned with the dogs paws pulling the the treads on the microfiber
I have leather- and I like it- I always sit on blankets- I don't like to stick to it

Re: Leather or Microfiber?
I have microfiber couches but no dog. They are great for stains. A baby wipe can take anything off of them. Not sure how they would be with dog hair. I think the hair might stick to the couch and be harder to vacuum off.

Re: Leather or Microfiber?
We bought a leather couch because our dog sheds. Only because it's a lot easier to remove the hair from leather than material.

Re: Leather or Microfiber?
I would say it depends on the leather. Dogs can scratch leather. My SIL has microfiber and it still looks pretty good after 3 yrs.

YES!!! I have brown microfiber and I have to vacuum my couch frequently because it is a dog hair magnet. Also after awhile the microfiber spots when you clean it. My next couch will be brown leather.

Re: Leather or Microfiber?
My parents have leather couches. The dogs love the leather couches and they love stretching and using their nails on the couch. The couches are for their afternoon naps. They bought the couches at fortunoff after the sales guy said don't worry dogs and cats hate leather couches. yeah right.

Re: Leather or Microfiber?
We have microfiber and it hides everything pretty well except dog hair. We have leather in our truck and the dog has actually scratched it up so I'd rather clean the fur on the couch than see sratches in it.

I have a microfiber couch and love it...it holds up great with stains (and thanks to oxyclean!) and yes, we let our dogs on the couch...its not that bad...we just vaccuum the couch and the hair comes up

Re: Leather or Microfiber?
I have cats and wish I had gotten a leather sofa because it would be so much easier to remove the cat hair. Sometimes the longer hairs get stuck in the couch and I can't get them off with a lint brush, which means I have to hook up the Dyson attachments to vaccum it off.
As for spills, the microfiber with scotch guard is really good. We just use a little water and everything comes out.
