Lease Deals $0 down?

I am totally new to the world of leasing. I currently own a 12 yr old car that I financed back in 1999. I am looking into new cars and since my daily commute is less than 20 miles I figured I could go for a lease. The deals you hear on TV $0 are they for real? If you do put money down on a lease what is considered a fair amount?

Re: Lease Deals $0 down?

My advice is to read the fine print in ads. It shsould tell you all the logistics on required deposits/bank fees/monthly payments and mileage allowance.

I lease a 2005 Nissan Altima which I put $2k down on for a 15k/yr lease and I have a monthly payment of $224/month for 39 months.

I've financed a car at $0 down, but you have to remember that it is based on your credit rating, how much you're willing to pay per month, and how long the term of the lease is.

Yes, it's totally legit - but make sure you go to a reputable dealer and find out how much you should be paying for the car - on edmunds.com,e tc.

Re: Lease Deals $0 down?

You don't want to put too much down because you're not buying.

I think $1000-1500 is a good down payment.

I think it depends on what you want to do. Are you going to buy it out at the end?? If so put more down. If not put less.

I love the Mazda 6

I also was reading about the altima It looks like with about 3000. You can get it for 89.00 (there might be more fees that arent listed though they always screw ya )

Ditto.

For most leases every $1000 down equates to $20 - $30 less per month on the payment.

That sounds like a good deal to me. The Altima is one car that is on my list to check out.

Re: Lease Deals $0 down?

you can put $0 down on a lease but your payment will probably be higher...I've leased my last two cars and i put down $1500 both times.

$1500-2000 seems fair to me. The deals I see that say $3K or more down seem a little high. For that amount down I would finance.

I didn't put down anything on my lease and personally never will. I like my $$ in my pocket and don't mind paying the extra $$ monthly..

I got my Honda $0 down and pay $349/month.....

Re: Lease Deals $0 down?

I've leased two cars with 0 down. IMO: Not worth it unless you plan on buying out the car at the end of the lease. I really regret it....although we don't use our cars to commute to work we went over the mileage and had to pay at the end of out pocket. Your payments will be higher and you are probably better off financing with some $$$ down. Of course it depends on your situation. If you like to stay with your cars for a while then purchase, if you like to switch up then lease. Read the fine print very very carefully. Alot of times the $0 down and only $299 a month is just a gimick to get you in. Depending on what car you are going to get, if you put $0 down your payments will be higher than $299 a month. Good Luck.

NEVER buy-out a lease!!!! They jack the price back up to sticker price!!! Unless you really negotiate well, you're better off buying something else at the end.

You're right, leases aren't for everyone though.

I must say, my mother and I did really well with the negotiating....Chat Icon
I originally was supposed to get a 2003, and my mother was a warrior with them and after all was said and done, she said "make it a 2004 and you've got a deal!" The took it.
