Leapfrog fridge phonics
Does anyone have this for their l/o? Do they like it? Do you like it? My granddaughter will be 2 in nov. and I'm thinking of getting this as one of her gifts.

I thought about getting one but I know it would just cause me more mess and I don't want that lol. But they do look really cute and I think my DD would like it.

Re: Leapfrog fridge phonics
So far my son takes them off the fridge and the pieces are under the coach and the stove. I got them when he was one and still at 2 1/2 no interest.

Re: Leapfrog fridge phonics
I guess it depends on the child because my DD is 2 years 3 months and she has had it for a while and LOVES it! She plays with it almost every day still. She has the one with the alphabe letters. I think it's great!

Leapfrog fridge phonics
i have it, its scratched my fridge.
i was in target this week and they actually have a new one that the piece you put the letters in to play the sound is on a bucket type thing, so it doesnt have to go on your fridge. im thinking of getting that bc i hate the fridge one between all the scratches and pieces everywhere.

Re: Leapfrog fridge phonics
As far as the pieces, I would suggest doing a few letters at a time. It cuts down on the clutter and actually assists in retention since there is more repetition of fewer sounds at a time.

Leap frog phonics toys are excellent! Our little guy has the bus and he loves it
As far as the fridge pieces going everywhere you could teach your little one to put them onto a baking sheet when they're not on the piece that makes the sounds
And like the previous poster suggested, fewer pieces will help with retention

My DD loves it. She got it for her first birthday and it didn't show interest until closer to her 2nd birthday. I agree that the pieces are all over the place though! But DD really enjoys it.

Exactly this! Except I have a son and he is 2.5. He's had it over a year and it is still one of his favorites! He does occasionally put the pieces on the floor, but we rekindle him that they belong on the fridge and he loves cleaning them up and sticking them back on.

Re: Leapfrog fridge phonics
We just got this for my 21 month old and she LOVES it. We don't use them on the fridge though--we put them on an easel. She doesn't seem interested in taking them off too much. I think they have really helped her learn her letters too!

Dd is almost 3 and has had it for a year. She still plays with it and it has helped her learn her letters and sounds.

This is what I was going to suggest. We've gone through 2 fridge ones. ( dog ate all the letters from the first one and the second was absconded at DHs aunts house by my niece)
I plan in getting her the bucket one for christmas

Re: Leapfrog fridge phonics
We have it and it turns into a full on wrestling match with my twins they like it so much!
But I agree only a few letters at a time. I do this and still have them all over my kitchen floor. I almost fell today stepping on one.
Fun toy though.
