lawn burn
our dog has really managed to destroy our grass, which was beautiful & lush when we moved in. between the holes she likes to dig from time to time, and the lawn burn from her pee, we have to do a lot of reseeding and hope for the best.
any suggestions for preventing lawn burn in the future?

we are going thru the same thing. our dog has managed to destroy our nice backyard.
i need to just lay pavers down over the whole thing and be done.

It's possible to train a dog to do their business in one spot. You could even train them to dig in that one area too, although there's probably a reason for the digging. They're hot, they're bored, etc.
Another option is watering the area right after they pee. But that would require you to be right with them when they go.

we have the same problem (and we have a boy - who doesn't lift his leg  )
There is something that you can feed them that makes it burn less. We just gave up on the spot and luckily he goes there all the time.

My cousin has a pen in his backyard that is strictly for the dogs. He basically just fenced off a small area in the back of the yard (not sure of the measurements) and the dogs know that is where they go to do their business.

i was going to suggest this. do you have any room for a dog run? like on the side of your house or somewhere in the back where it's out of the way?

I would love to train them to pee in one area but, we have 3 and we are over ruled!
DH just recently sprinkled lime on the entire yard, watered for 2 days. He then dug up the burn spots, laid new dirt and seed and we are regrowing in those areas.
I realize this is not a perm. fix since it will just keep happening but, at least the grass is looking lush agian.

we actually have an area like that now, but it's totally overgrown and is going to take some serious labor to clear and make safe for the dog who eats everything. i think we're going to have to put that into action in the spring tho so we don't reseed for nothing.
i had seen those supplements for their food that PP referred to at the pet store. those are ok for the dog? does anyone know anything about them?
